How to gain trust?

How do you build up trust on this website, I'd like to start to provide services, skilling etc and start trading gold?

Any tips very welcome

Be honest, be loyal, reasonably price, have threads that look semi-nice, and try to be open minded.

Just be legit and dont ever think about scamming cause in long run its not worth no matter what. i made that mistake and i regret it till this day.

 

If you are going to scam avoid making it a $5 scam, it might cost you over 2 years of your life. So your best option is to use a MM when asked, or ask to provide one yourself to avoid being scammed or wanting to scam. On the other hand, If you follow the safe trading thread that @Wortel linked, you always get confirmed PM's and ensure discords are correct you will work really well, good luck again though.

This thread of mine is actually relevant to this thread. A great way to gain trust is just offer services at rates that beat competitors until you have enough rep to charge what they do.

 

Just offer free services to get started, then charge small amounts to build up reputation. Be active among the community. Donate towards sythe if you feel like it. Trade regularly, whether you're buying or selling - try to do both. Try to get vouches where people have trusted you first and make sure they mention that in the vouch, where they went *first* - this will show to people that you're reputable.

 

Pretty much what gladiator said, donators are more trusted but bare in mind it doesn't stop them scamming people.

 

Be a long standing member. Don't get banned. I personally look at join date and post count tbh to see if they are really involved in the forums.

 

I'd also suggest making a donation to Sythe that will be more than the services you're charging for. It's not likely that someone who donated $100-$500 to Sythe will risk a ban for a $10-$50 service and people will deem you to be more trustworthy.

 

What he linked you to Aiii is the best place to start. Vouchers go a LONG way and the more you work on them the easier the lkng-term strategy here is. I used to see a lot of people back in the day, lol, start up an OMM (Official Middleman Man) Application as it tends to kill two birds with one stone.

Always remember this, if no one's said it yet: ALWAYS use the PM system in conjunction with your IM Client of choice when selling. Prevents you from getting rolled on if someone decides to say that you're Skype must have been hacked, etc. Side note, if you offer free MM work I promise you you will be able to get some action as far as building trust here.

im new ish to sythe and found this was a great idea and so did some services for choccy, great way for someone already trusted to deem you trustworthy

 

Although this is true, as you probably know Gold, we try not to use donor status or tenure as weighted figures in ascertaining a user's trustworthiness.

Nonetheless, you make a valid point. It would have a much more lasting impression though, in my opinion, to have 100$ worth of services rendered that's confirmed and vouched for.

 

Building up trust is more then just trading. Get involved in the community sections as well. It takes time and won’t happen overnight.

FireZ is absolutely right about that, thread activity and self-development in the Sythe community is pretty much a necessity here, and frankly inevitable, if you want to be able to harness the trust you gain for a more long-term plan to be successfulhere at Sythe. Nevertheless, CDT involvement and Comm Gen/Feedback/Guides is a good start imo.

 

maybe if you want to go for mod or something sure, if you want to be a large market user I dont think your community involvement matters whatsoever. Buyers will look at vouches and donator status, not if you participated in this weeks cdt event

 

That wasn't what I was quite aiming at with my insight, but I definitely understand what you mean, and from that perspective you are very correct, it doesn't.

In retrospect Gico, what I meant was that involvement I the community ALONG with a excellent resume of Trades/Vouches that it would excaberate the process of becoming a trusted member of Sythe. As FireZ stated, it takes a good combination of social networking and dependability to really be able to build a lasting Mercantile relationship with buyers here at Sythe.. At least, as a long time endeavor, in my own opinion.

 

There's the obvious doing free services for vouches and community interaction but also try not telling @Laurie he needs a haircut

 

Build up vouches, gotta start from somewhere, at first start selling some gold mabye? build a few vouches and then start to offer services.
