Help me start up a server (not code it, start it)

I've got a source and the whole bit, plus I can most likely code it once it's ready. Right now though, I need to know how to get the thing working when I try to run it. I need to know how to install Apache Ant, and anything else I may need.

The source I plan on using is either one of the following:
-DivinePk Source v5.0
-RSCD Source v25

So if you know, please help me out

 

Divine source is easy to setup, but there are too many bugs.

RSCD v25 source is much more complicated, but it's much more secure, I can help you set it up, but only if you tell me where you are going to host the server, theres really no point in hosting it in USA, UK, Canada etc because jagex will shut you down within a couple of days, so if you are hosting it offshore where jagex can't shut you down, I will help.

I was thinking about doing this myself, but the only server I can find that is untouchable costs 300 euros a month.

 

Well - which are you using? They are both a little different to set up.

You need an ant apache server (decide if you're going the hamachi route, then you may need that too), upload the db that comes with it to http://localhost/phpmyadmin > create new database > upload the txt that comes with, the source (compiled of course), and port forwarding if you're not using hamachi which is crap imho.

They're easy once you play around with 'em a bit.


Saffax: That's untrue. Did you see how long some have lasted? RSCD & PiruOnline not to mention couple other decent ones. You just can't go spamming your server everywhere. Make it private and I'm sure it won't be noticed.

 

Ehh. I just recently got admin on Xtreme-Pk, so I'm in no rush to make my own server anymore. Thanks for the help though, guys.

I'm talking about in the long run, piru hasn't been up long, and piru has spammed on every single runescape forum. You saw what happened to v3n1, he ignored the DMCA notices and now hes in a whole lot of trouble, you need to host it somewhere they can't touch you.

 

Yes, but the less expensive route would be making it invite only. Although a dedicated server in Switzerland would be nice.
