Setting up a WoW Server - Play SinglePlayer if you want!

There are lots of WoW Server distros out there, and all of them are slightly buggy. I find that AC Web Ultimate Repack is the least buggy out of all the ones I've tried.

Register and download the 7.3 repack. If you're intending to let other people play on this server (I don't, I play all by myself on localhost), then you'll need Hamachi (google Hamachi-Basic).

Extract the AC Web Ultimate Repack into a folder, then browse it with explorer. You'll see a map extractor for both enUS and enGB. Use whichever corresponds to your WoW.exe language. Use ad.exe. Copy that into your WOW program files folder (Typically C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\). Run ad.exe. This isn't a quick task, be patient.

Once it is finished, copy the maps into the "AC Web Ultimate Repack\ascent" folder. If you aren't planning on letting anyone else play with you, then you're pretty much done. If you want to let other people play, you will need to configure Hamachi. (I won't bother explaining that, I'm a busy man.)

To connect to your own WoW server from the computer which it is installed on, open the realmlist.wtf file from the WoW Program files folder with any text editor. It'll say something like:

Replace that with:

set realmlist 127.0.0.1

If you already have other instances Apache, IIS, or MySQL running, you will need to terminate them. To end Apache: Open Task Manager and end all httpd.exe processes. To end IIS: type "iisreset /stop" from the command line. To end MysQL: type "net stop mysql" from the command line.

Then run AC Web Ultimate Repack\Control Panel.exe. Click the big "Launch Server" button. Once you see the ascent window say "Server is ready for connections", then it is safe to connect. If all went well, you'll be able to log in to your server using the credentials:
Username: Admin
Password: admin

You'll have GM capabilities.

 

Hey, very good guide but when i change my realmlist to 127.0.0.1 And try to logon it says unable to validate game version, have you got any idea whats wrong? I have done all the steps that you have said to do in the guide so i have no idea. Thanks for any help.

 

Either you haven't updated to the proper version, or the binaries from the guide are from an older version that your current client's version.

 

Thanks, i have downgraded to 2.3.3 and now when i try to logon it won't get past handshaking any ideas?

 

Follow my guide to MaNGOS. Repacks are unstable and you can barely customize them at all.

You might wanna update the info (repack 7.3 to to aspire repack for wotlk). Just in case a newbie downloads and tries to play and starts complaining.

 

ive never played wow but im gonna start playing sum private server cos my friend pressured me into it lol (he practically begs me too play it )

 

I tried doing this, and for some stupid reason i edited the wrong realmlist.wtf file (I edited the actual wow file not the other programs copied file...), and now when i try running WoW, i get this error message...

ewww, repacks are weird and stupid in my opinion. So is hamachi, what a really bad way to run a server online 0.0 they are so unprotected. Compile the core yourself, use dynDNS and you have succesfully avoided hamachi. But I do use these on occasion when I play localhost. But online, this is not a smart idea using hamachi. But I remember, last time I used this, the mobs didn't respawn... like, ever.

 

I got the newest version and it tells me to open up 4 dif files but 2 say they cant find something and the other 2 are .conf
