Banned if we block ads?

can the admins/mods even prove that you block ads? i dont block ads im just asking.

 

Considering the fact that most web hosting costs the same amount if not less than it costs for dinner for one at a restaurant, ads shouldn't have anything to do with paying for hosting.

 

i dont think they should be able to ban members for blocking an INappropriate ad....

If you do not like the policies implemented by sythe.org and it's staff, you are welcome to leave.

The ad revenue made from sythe.org is used to fund the server which are damn expensive due to the amount of attacks on the servers.

 

This isn't some stupid shared hosting plan where you share a server with 50 other clients. This site is hosted on a dedicated server whose only purpose is to host this site. Do you have ANY IDEA how much more that costs? Besides, if Sythe wants to make a cut for the time and effort put in to managing Sythe.org and constantly fending off attackers, then he has that right.

Either turn off Adblock, or leave. If you don't like the rules then get lost, we're not bending them because your below-average intelligence can't comprehend the simple the fact that these rules are in place for a reason.

Right, because Sythe has no other priorities but this site. He's obviously not attending University, or living on campus, and thereby paying dorm rent as well as tuition fees all by himself, or anything like that.

While you might think that it's necessary for people to dedicate all their time and money to extracurricular activities like running their online Runescape forum, most of us aren't like that. No one gives Sythe.org or any other internet-based community priority over real life, and if they do, they shouldn't. I wouldn't fork out to keep a website running when I could just as easily pay hosting through ad money, would you?

Just click on the icon and disable it on this site - it will be a green..sign and ads will be visible.

When you registered here you agreed to those terms, You also agreed that your 13 year or older. Isn't that old enough for most "Inappropriate" ads?


Edit: Sythe.org gets 120,000 Page views per day and is on the top 20,000 websites on the Alexa ranking. Although the servers must be expensive I'm sure Sythe gets enough revenue from ads to pay the costs.

 

Yeah... Most ads pay per view. 2-3 ads a page at 100K ad viewers a day (20K blockers presumed) is ... a lot.

I doesn't actually state anywhere that you must keep the ads unblocked - But technically, I'm afraid if you do block them, you're a thief.

Do as you please, just think about your actions and contemplate the consequences of them.

Richard has however, stated he does not want people to block ads, and that anyone blocking them, could face a ban.
