    @Sythe What confuses me is that, users have to repay debts, however old (5 years, 10 years, etc), to retain full user privileges (i.e non-DNT), so, what's the difference here?

    I understand staff retain the right to unban/ban as they see fit, and not always as per rules set in place. However, considering the large sum of $ involved, I hardly see giving Wongold a free pass fair. At least negotiate some sort of settlement.

    I don't think the donation amount really matters, I've seen larger donors DNT for far less significant or 'questionable' behaviors. It's not like staff gets to see any of that money anyways

    It's not the age of the debt which is the issue it's the age of the incident and claim.

    If someone owes you $5k and you take them to small claims court today then they will hear your case and it may take the defendant 5 years to pay you back -- that's fine. But if someone owes you $5k and you wait 5 years to take it to court that's not fine. That's called a stale claim and the common law is very clear that stale claims should not be entertained because it encourages people to keep skeletons in the closet to be sprung out at any moment as a weapon for commerce. It turns the courts from a shield into a sword.

    Basically if you are wronged you should be sufficiently injured to bring the claim to the court quickly. Otherwise you are not sufficiently injured to require a remedy. Statute of limitations - Wikipedia

    Depending on jurisdiction statute of limitation is often 7 years but it is usually at the discretion of the court whether or not the claim is deemed stale. In this case I deemed it stale.

    If the amount is significant they can try suing / dispute resolution in another jurisdiction.

    For someone to be pardoned, and rid of a DNT, they need to repay all debts, irrelevant of time lapsed.

    Go back and read what I wrote again. The age of the debt is not at issue. It is the delay between the event and the report which is the issue.

    Ok, so, when people admit to a scam 6 years ago in their pardon, that's pretty much a delay between the event and the report (the pardon being the report, and the Mods investigating what is owed, and if there is anything further outstanding).
