[DENIED] Encourage user to get user to add them through discord channel

Just to add on to this, Nitro users can change their # so if your discord was Blob#7777 a nitro user could choose blob#7777. Discord is still pretty new to a lot of people and it's not clear from the beginning that names are case sensitive.

Support, I already do this method and it works perfectly fine.

 

Sounds like a good idea, idk if we need to go this far though, I think I really need to bog down and say, if people read stickies, and forum notes it is IMPOSSIBLE to get scammed. AKA request a pm, use a middleman, never go first to someone you are unsure of. There are so many things we can do that don't even need to go that far. Although this is more a feedback than a suggestion, I support.

 

Usually I share that opinion, but this one is so simple and it's near impossible to talk to the wrong person even if you're not familiar with Discord. May as well do it regardless of if it gets implemented or not.

 

I mean if its ONLY you in your discord and youre constantly checking members and clearing people then it makes sense (still a ton of effort), but from peoples discord I know, there is always multiple people in them. Someone could easily come in named something different pretending to be looking for a service. then see someone new join the discord and change their name to something similar of the owner, and simply DM the potential buyer and scam that way. It is a common scam that has happened frequently and still happens. If youre afk or no one notices the impostor in the member list, then theres no stopping it. Good idea but still isnt full proof.

 

The fact that Discord allows you to change the # is fucking bull shit.
+1 to this, if it is only encouraging with a sticky on market threads. Too hard to enforce and impose on everyone.

 

Asked about adding via sythe discord and was told you always needs a pm regardless. Don't see why, since you have to verify your identity on the sythe server and you cant change your displayed name on the server...

Barely anyone of the Sythe users use the Sythe Discord server.

Don't think this suggestion will ever be accepted. Sythe PM's are of importance and honestly I'm just avoiding Discord sales at all costs.

Regardless of limitations you put on imposter scams / ultimately it's up to the user being responsible enough to verify all aspects on his part. If failed to do so, the user puts himself at risk to be scammed.
