List of platforms that banned Cryptocurrency Advertising

I couldn't find a list of platforms where cryptocurrency ads are banned, so here it is. Please comment on this thread if there is a platform that I am missing.

Cryptocurrency ads are now banned (or will be in the near future) on those platforms :

• Facebook
  • Crypto-related ads are not allowed since January 30th 2018
• Google
  • Will go into effect in June 2018
• Instagram (owned by Facebook)
  • Crypto-related ads are not allowed since January 30th 2018
• Reddit
  • Crypto-related ads are not allowed since 2016
• Twitter
  • Crypto-related ads are not allowed since March 2018
• Youtube (owned by Google)
  • Will go into effect in June 2018

I still see crypto ads on these platforms.
Also, how is this better than all the gambling ads I get on Facebook :thinking:

 

Ads and posts are 2 different things. Also, it might take a few hours for the companies to realize it's a cryptocurrency ad and take it down.

Google and Youtube start only in June 2018.

Online gambling ads are not allowed on Facebook, except for the ones that have been approved by Facebook. You need to submit a request to be allowed to advertise online gambling.

I agree however that a ban on everything cryptocurrency-related is too much. This ban is mostly a PR strategy. Facebook looks good because of it. And there's now a lot of pressure on the competitors; that's why Google copied Facebook with the same rule.

 

I have never signed up to anything and i assure you that i do view many gambling ads on facebook and the facebook messaging app (mostly sports betting)... I'm definitely not enticed to use these websites as I know the odds are never in my favour, along with me not knowing strategies such as spread betting etc, so i dont really care tbh.
I'll start reporting them in hopes of removing them as my friends don't get these ads which is odd, its just funny seeing the bullshit they pull off such as stating that 'lucy turned £10 into £4232' lol.

 

I think you misinterpreted what I said. It's allowed, but only for companies that got approved by Facebook. Also, companies are the ones requesting to be allowed to advertise online gambling, not you. You don't have to do anything to receive them.

Ads are targeted depending on a lot of factors (age, interest, pages you like, geography, etc.). If you do get a lot of gambling ads, it's because you are part of the companies' target market and your needs and desires most closely match with their service offering.

Pretty sad having targeted gambling ads nonetheless tbh, unhealthy to see everywhere for those with problems or who have lost a lot to gambling - most of the time more than just money.
