What would you change if you were in charge?

What would you change if you owned this site? Take this in jest. It is not meant to be taken seriously by any means, but could be used as a tool to grasp and share ideas.

My changes:​

• DNT would be quashed, effective immediately. All users who were under this usergroup would have a 3 month grace period to pay off any ongoing debt and failure to do so means getting their privileges revoked.
• Moderator applications would come to an end.
• Usergroup coloring would be restricted for staff only.
• The PR Team would be dismantled.
• You’d only be able to attain the ex-mod status rank after serving at least 6 months on staff. Ranks proceeding that of a sectional would need at least 6 months of experience to attain the rank in question (global/admin).
• Username changes would be available again every 6 months to a year depending whether it is minor or major. You’d only be eligible for this in specific if you haven’t been banned for non-infraction offenses during that time period as well pay upwards to 10k in Sythe gold.
• You will have a random chance to acquire a random minirank just by posting in areas that give post count. Certain forums would have a higher chance than others, while some might have none.
• To be promoted within staff, you must have at least 3 months in experience prior, and any following promotion could be higher depending on the rank.
• Anonymous feedback for staff would be implemented.
• A manual stand-in shop would be created to deplete/sink sythe gold with numerous rewards.
• Pardons that successfully pass the first round but fail the second round would be able to pardon again in half the time it usually takes.
• All donors would have a bold name; no coloring.
• Users would receive a minirank for having (x) amount of posts within a respective forum. x could be 1000 for example.
• A feedback system would be implemented. Vouches will still be present in text, but you would be unable to post in the forum itself.
• The color scheme of the website would be grey/black/red.

 

I'll probably list my ideas in the future if some come to mind, but I figured I'd comment on yours for now.

I like this. The DNT has its pros, and cons, however a majority of DNT users seem to not give a shit about their debt, and come here to meme / trash the site. People who actually want to come back to the community will pay their debts back, and pardon, and if unsuccessful they'll at least make an effort to show they care about coming back as legitimate traders. Some people with debt do make an effort though, so I'd understand both sides, but at the same time if they never scammed, then that'd never be an issue in the first place.

I like this, but I'm quite neutral on it. I feel like handpicking, or making a poll for new staff to promote is awesome (not sure how it worked on Sythe back then), however what if that handpicked member doesn't want to be staff? I'm probably overthinking it on that, though, but I'd be for either decision here.

I voted yes on this, but it's personal preference.

This sums my thoughts on the above in a nutshell:

I don't see the need for PR when CDT can fulfill that. There hasn't been any news within PR in a while, so merging them would probably help progress things.

No support on this one. Not everyone can be on Sythe for an extended period of time due to IRL (which includes school, work, or maybe personal issues, etc), and even if this isn't the case I think it's unfair to take away the credit of someone who's been volunteering their time to help the community here. Also 6 months is quite some time to expect someone to stick around / volunteer lots of hours every day. I, myself have been very active, however some unfortunately don't have the time that I, and others would, and reasonably so.

Seems like a neat idea, however possibly limit the number of prizeboxes you can win, or set some sort of restriction? Posting a lot is cool, and encourages discussion within the community, however some people will try to abuse this (might be over-exaggerating though).

I assume you're just talking about getting promoted from sectional > global > admin on this one, and not to sectional? Correct me if I'm wrong.

We technically already have that with our monthly staff reviews, or are you talking about for the public to judge us?

Is this an old thing with pardons? Nowadays we usually wait till the pardon reaches 9 votes, or 1 week expires, and if the voting is 4/5 or 5/4, then voting would be extended for another week. Maybe I'm not seeing eye to eye with what you're trying to say here.

Would look ugly to me, but that's personal preference.

That'd be cool, and gives some more incentive to encourage discussion.

Any specific proposal you have with this? I'm pretty sure there was a suggestion for this before that was denied, but not 100% sure.

Personal preference here too. Ugly colors to me, but to each their own.

I would remove the PR team but give them all the option to join CDT as I firmly believe there's no need for them to be separate teams, I don't think Richard was opposed to this last time I brought it up so I might bring it up again sometime soon.

I would add a Head Admin position, someone who is non bias and has alot of time on their hands would be chosen, whoever that would be as whenever i've had problems with any of the admins and I feel like there out of line in some situations there's no one I can report their behavior to as Richard himself is too busy.

I wouldn't get rid of dnt but I think the new scamming will get you unbanned in 6 or so months and you'll remain dnt until you pass a pardon is incredibly dumb, would get rid of that.

I agree with you on the ex-mod status rank and username changes.

I wouldn't mind moderator applications being removed.

Regarding Sythe Gold, get a discussion going in community input asking what rewards people want to see, people have stated they want to see miniranks so have people create miniranks and post them on a thread. If you don't want to do that then I have no problem doing it.

Bus369 would be perm banned & apart from that i don't believe all the mods take a neutral position when handling reports, i'd do something about that.

 

King, have there been instances of users getting their DNT denied even though they didn't own a large sum of money? What if the staff votes no, how severe does the previous scam have to be for that?

Going back to the title, I would like pardons to go through two stages of voting: one from the staff, and one from the public. But the one from the public wouldn't be a one stage yes/no it would have to be a post from the user with a minimum amount of words as to why the user should or shouldn't be welcomed into the community.

In addition to that, I would like a feedback system added. We're probably too deep into the vouch threads that it'd be irrelevant, I can only imagine that's why.
