What's the purpose behind prize boxes?

As the title asks. Are they just a minirank or are they usable like a mystery box?

Also from donating. You can get a prizebox for every 50$ you donate after you've become a 100$ donor.

 

They can also be sold to other members for $$ or RSGP.

 

How much do they roughly cost? Might try to buy some.

 

Like 10-15$ for normal prizeboxes.

 

I'm starting to doubt this. I just processed a $300 donation of a guy today and he got 1 tier 4 prizebox instead.

 

Could be that it scales with the amount of the donation then?

 

Well the way I donated was, I became a 100$ donor, and then I donated $50 all the way up until I was a 300$ donor. I got prizeboxes for each donation.
