Are you allowing gold sellers to rip you off?

I've noticed that if I check prices with 5-10 different gold sellers I can get a wide range of prices.

Some of them seem to think they need to make up to $0.45/M 07

Today for example, I was able to get $0.82/M 07.

But the first gold seller I asked, told me they would buy for 0.71 and that gold prices had dropped. They we're selling gold for $1.14/M 07. ( Bogla Gold )

I understand that they have to make a profit, but at what point are they just clearly ripping you off?

Every gold seller is going to tell you they have the best prices or the cheapest gold but in reality, its just marketing.

I am proposing that we create a price watching thread where people can share the best price they were able to get and the gold seller they sold to. Then display the gold seller that is giving the best price for your hard earned gold, or giving you the best price for your hard earned money in the original post for everyone to see who has a good reputation.

    Tell me what you think!

Are you allowing gold sellers to rip you off?

My personal site averages 15% at all times.

We buy for $0.8-$0.82 right now, we sell for $0.96.

I set my sites buy rates and sell rates daily and its precisely 15% on average each day.

I consider between 10-20% acceptable, I have bans, upkeep costs, advertisements, workers to pay, etc.

The simple fact is, unfournately most sales don't come from forums - They come from people searching in google. Most people do what is called "impulse buying" which is they react to the top 4 results on google which receive around 90% of the search traffic, they then visit that site and impulse buy on it. The gold sites you listed take advantage of those people who aren't savvy enough users to shop around on forums and other areas.

It's frankly a scummy way of doing business but because the top google rankings are determined who pays the most to a SEO company now adays that's how the industry is.

It's extremely depressing that anyone uses the Chinese sites or sites that make 40% margins on runescape gold which is ridiculous. So to answer your question, yes they are basically ripping you off. You can get the same(if not better service) and save $20 per 100m at other sites(not just mine).

The uneducated consumer are the ones sites like Arcus target and take advantage of.

Those types of sites pay thousands of dollars each month(sometimes upwards of $3000-$5000/month) to be able to do that, Bogla at least had a good company and respectable prices, Arcus is just using it now to price gouge.

Unfournately when u have a leveraged buyout like Arcus did to Bogla it condenses the industry and allows him to gouge even deeper into consumers pockets before. It becomes near monopoly like.

More and more sites continue to collapse and G2Apay is suspending a great deal of them, most have lost paypal and gone under, soon its going to be where theres 10-12 of us left(I've been saying this for months) and the price will be whatever sites want it to be, its already starting to become apparent after the buyout of Bogla that margins are increasing for sites simply because they can.

There aren't many true sites left that aren't going along with this gouging, Rsgoldrush, Ariba, Rsgoldfund & Realist are probably the last 4 true non gouging sites, I just checked and we're currently $21 per 100m(21% cheaper) under sites like arcus, r2pleasent, bogla, divica, etc.

Soon there wont be any of us left, once we go you'll pay whatever the huge sites want you to unfournately :l. All I can recommend is try to buy off the guys I mentioned above even if it isn't my own site to support them, especially the US/UK based companys.

    It will only get worse.

voted no because as @Buyacc stated, if both parties accept the terms then its legit. Its not like rs gold is a commodity with inelastic demand (which means that people need it and will pay whatever price for it).

I would also rather see people paying a little more for their gold instead of getting scammed.

@RSGoldRush made a site for comparing selling prices RSGPSpy - Compare prices from the most popular RuneScape Gold selling sites!! for the major gold sites. I believe he thought about implementing buying rates, though that task would have been much more difficult with less accurate results, So he decided it wasn't gonna be worth it.

I don't really care what people are buying their gold for, I want to feel like i'm getting the best price for my gold when I sell it. The purpose of this thread was to hopefully get a thread created to help others find out what the best prices they could be getting for their gold. If theirs gold sellers offering ".71" , stating it the "best price", and someone SELLS them their gold, that's not good for the other people selling them gold. They realise they can get people to sell them gold at that price.

I live off this shit, every cent counts when your selling 500M+ a day.

Im trying to get other people like me, who sell gold to the gold sellers, to know that they should be getting better prices. Nothing to do with whether the trade was legit or not.

Thats why im trying to get people who sell these gold sellers their gold, to make sure that they dont sell for a really cheap price. I feel like its so disrespectful to get offered $0.7/m 07 when I know that's a bullshit price.

Why not just set up your own thread / website if you think they're so profitable? I wonder if you realise that you probably get ripped off with anything in life that you buy/sell .. its capitalism and you're the nail.

It's allowed, it's a free market. There won't be any changes to this. It's up to both parties to agree on a price before trading.

Simply just seeing if there is any interest in people sharing what prices they are getting for selling their gold. Thats all.

Just seeing if people would be interested in sharing what prices they are getting for their gold. Why jump into doing all of that when I can see if people would be interested in seeing what others are able to get for their gold.

It's just the way the market works. Sites with a bigger name, reputation and following can charge more as they have a lot of trust and demand. The larger sites often spend more on advertising so need to make more money to cover the costs, sure that's not 100% true but they invest more and probably get more bans or at least run the risk of getting more bans.

People who sell their gold at 0.71 aren't necessarily getting ripped off, sure they could sell it for more but you'll find that the larger sites which buy it for lower are able to buy a lot more so it's easier and safer for the seller in that sense.

Think of what almost any retail store or pawn shop even does and the margins here are potentially a lot smaller. Fact is if you shop around when buying or selling you can find a better deal than clicking one of the first google results and at the same time support a smaller business.

It's a free market. No one is being forced to make the trade. People have the option to check prices from different sellers and choose who to sell to. Big gold sellers are able to set the price and have a stronger negotiation power due to the reputation they've built up. Real life market operates the same way too. No one is at fault here.

If you're not happy with one buyer, there's more than plenty out there that want your gold. Or other players. Power of a free market; if you're not happy with it, take it else where (the gold). Besides, worst rate I've seen was like .82, idk where you say .71.

No. You ask why? That's how a business works. A business is ran to make what? You gussed it! MONEY!
However i do urge you to negotiate prices with sites. 70% of the time they will budge up a bit.

A few weeks ago i found myself looking to sell RSGP but couldn't part ways with half the price its worth. If i could find a buyer who's not out to constant get huge gains from my work it would help me financially in every way
