What makes you a "man?"

Just my opinion but you sound almost as if you think that only men can be down to earth, family supporters etc.

It doesn't matter what gender you are aslong as you do what is right.

It shouldn't be "What makes someone a man?" but "What makes someone good/cool w/e?".

 

Leadership of a gay gang.

Intelligence - Creates missiles and atmoic bombs.

Responsibility - Always take the blame for the things.

You didn't use responsibility in a bad sense really. Responsibility is would tie into that as the ability to use the above two well and effectively.

 

When I think "man" I think of a hardworking man trying to support a family by working 6 days a week at a steelmill. A strong man with strong morals. I'm sorry, a 5'7" guy who works in a cubicle and benches all of 100lbs doesn't meet my "man" criteria.

 

So that people stop PMing me saying they got what I was saying when they really don't, I got rid of my other posts.

I think that there is no non-physical quality exclusively held by men to define them any longer.

At one time men used to be the job holder, at another their black counterparts were (like Dredd Scott) deemed as property. Some religions specify "coming of age" ceremonies, while others only have a physical requirement. Things like primary caregiver, family, power, money, or any of the qualities shown on "Home Improvement" no longer apply today, not even the appearance, careers, or attitude.

I say that there is no "attribute" that makes a person "a man" any longer. There's only one thing that has always set men apart from women, and despite the fact that it's presense does effect day-to-day decisions/life (therefore defining what a man does/doesn't do), my attempts to explain were taken out of context by the foolhardy, and as such I'll keep it simple.

IMO a real man is a guy who can goto work 5-6 days a week knowing he is only going to get maybe a hundred dollars to himself but does it without complaining because he knows he is helping to provide for his own family

To be a good person, basically you have to take responsibility for yourself and everything that you effect Ex. Babies, Wife, etc...

I know it's a simple response but if you take care of your own shit, you are a man who does not make society even worse. Ex. Man who dosen't pay childsupport and his child becomes a rapist...

I think a man is someone who can provide for a family, even though there are "stay at home dads" they are not nearly as common as "stay at home moms".
