Unsatisfied with growth

Here is what I'd suggest:

1) change it from an early bump every 6 hours to every 4 hours. This means by buying bumps you're able to be on top twice as long.
2) Reduce bumps to be quite cheap for a couple weeks as a promotional period. Since you reduced the time needed that means people will need to buy more of them. Maybe even $0.25-0.5 worth of Sythe Gold and raise the price later. This will hopefully get some websites hooked on it so they continue to buy bumps.
3) Time permitting, make and possibly sell a bump bot that can automatically pay the early bump cost. It can be a feature when you go to add a new thread that you have to choose whether you want it to be bumped early or not, which could cause companies to utilize the feature more often.

 

IMO I think you need to reduce them closer to 75% than 50% but 50% is better than nothing I still think it'll be unused though.

I would nerf the price first and see what happens afterwards before implementing Dunworrys idea.

Test the waters with a price nerf first then move into the drastic changes perhaps.

No need to poke the hornets nest that is the sythe community and end up ruining sythe gold.

 

This kinda speaks for itself that it's currently too expensive to say it's been available for use since July.

200 sythe gold would seem reasonable

not too expensive - but would increase utilisation which should hopefully drain some sythegold from the market.

 

I thought it was obvious but whatever. The RS aspect of the community is saturated and using social media to try to expand won't work as long as it focuses on RS. Few people will want to make it obvious that their accounts are involved in RWT since it's likely they'll get banned for it as a result somewhere down the line.

So your options are either to expand with new markets or ride out the RS hype with minimal input until the site is no longer profitable. Buyacc's example of rocket league works out nicely if applied in the right way. CDT should be holding events such as tournaments for the markets you wish to expand to, and PR should be sourcing out noteworthy people to take part and in turn promote it.

Rocket league tournament with a $500 prize pot? Get a few streamers involved from the community and it'll almost market itself, and only run it with X participants, raising the pot until its large enough to bring people in. This kind of model could be applied to any game, and you'd want people with experience in community management who do this regularly to run it.

It just seems like you're putting too much work in the RS side when that should be driving the expansion of other areas. No business sits on one market forever.

 

Just wanted to bump in to say that I like @TeamTofu his idea mentioned above. But now comes the hard part. The usual sponsors dont deal in Rocket League (quickly checked Bogla and Divica) and the suggestions mentions $500 in rewards. This could and probably would be a good chance for promotion as Rocket League tournaments are getting pretty big but who is going to couch up those $500? I guess we could ask the forum members if they would be willing to fill that $500 gap but I am not sure how many people would be interested in giving money without any sort of gain for themself. Another possibility would be to get a Rocket League booster to sponsor but not sure if they're interested either to put money towards helping Sythe.org while they could do the same for their own site.

A prime example of where things stall when making any kind of PR effort on Sith.org.

 

How much money does a raffle typically bring in? You could run a monthly raffle and add the profit to the pot each month until there's enough interest for say a 128 player elimination (with 12 slots reserved for streamers or something). You don't necessarily need Bogla/Divica to sponsor it when you've grown it to the point that RL communities may be interested in sponsoring it instead.

Edit: It'd also be beneficial to give whatever community you focus on their own discussion forums, similar to how RS has a few for discussion/guides/botting etc. Should help with retention in the long run compared to solely having a marketplace that you're advertising. In return for the traffic, you could create a sidebar visible in the relevant section where streamers can advertise to anyone viewing that market, giving them more of an incentive to be involved.

I was thinking how I used to be on every day and now I never go on since there just isn't anything here anymore and no one is doing anything to fix it. Have you ever made a post in news/announcements announcing SytheLib and what it is? That is the first step.

 

Honestly not super interested in that tech so its hard for me to get into. Also way too busy to add another technical project. I'm much more interested in building community and I even when I begged I wasn't given the tools to do that so honestly sort of stopped coming around.

 

Who the fuck are you? People know about SytheLib. Or at least I do. It's not like its something that needs to be spread far and wide. It's for developers.

 

I guess we just disagree about this fairly fundamentally. I don't really buy the "build it and they will come" philosophy. I also have explained my thoughts on building community so many times before so I won't do it again but there is plenty of small steps that can be taken. And I guess I was virtue signaling a bit with that post but not a lot. Honestly I just don't understand why I can come to you and ask you to let me do stuff that I have time for and want to do to help your site and you just say no work on this instead. Just let people work on what they want and where their stregnths are and you will have much better outcomes than trying to make everyone fit a mold.

 

Recently (by some definition of recently) was to proactively mod (and manage) the SFA forum to see how it would effect activity. Also take more leadership over the three community teams but I can't really fault you for that since a bunch of pussies cried a lot when Syed was installed so I guess there wasn't much we could do there.
