Afaik any person making the game shouldn't be able to participate let alone win nor should the sponsor. I specifically remember I never entered my own made events/games, however did enter other events because cdt members are supposed to involve themselves in community participation events etc. I dont know about entering other members events if .. if you don't know the other members game event halloween forum hide and seek as an example if you dont know where they are hidden you can surely play to find it, if you had to test a game in the pre-development of the event ...you're not necessarily playing to win but testing. Either way they should know when it is wrong to enter a game and whether it is unfair for them to win.

 

Why wouldnt they be able to participate in their events. if the entire community is trying to get competition winner, its quite unfair if cdt wasnt able to participate in the events, even if its their own. they are also part of the community.

like @RebornKings stated, picking a game might take a few practive runs to see if its stable, but we arent sitting there weeks in advanced to play some random flash game. its about skill in those specified games and some people are naturally better at some games, coincidence if its their own.

I appreciate the feedback but that sets a completely unfair situation for the CDT members who are working hard, or the people who suggests the game in our weekly feedback thread, where we pull a lot of our games from.

 

I agree. If you go through the winners of events the vast majority are CDT members. At least that I've seen. Feels wrong for them to host events and essentially pay themselves when that's not what CDT is for. At the least the events need to be more widely advertised because sometimes the CDT win basically by default cuz they didn't get the word out.

But I don't really care one way or the other tbh. Whoopdie do they get minis and prizes.

 

The last CDT member to even place in any weekly was over 6 weeks ago, myself (2nd place).

Are we talking specifically weeklies here or any event in general? i.e Minirank designs, MOTM etc?

 

Last weeks CDT, Paper Shark got 3rd place. afaik.

Yeah I just checked, Paper Shark was the host of the event and he placed 3rd.

I actually allowed a late entry to be counted which meant I finished 4th.

I'd like to think events are there for the fun of participating and to give people a new game to try each week, not just for prizes. The prizes are just an incentive to get more people involved in order to add the the enjoyment and competitiveness which can clearly be seen in this weeks event.

In regards to the events not being advertised well enough, this is something we'd like to address and improve upon, however events are up for almost a week, every week at approximately the same times and are usually at the top of the community section.

But on what basis are late admissions allowed?

It's a relatively simple rule: Have your video / screenshot on the thread by the certain time and have it work (No broken links).

If you want to advertise, there's always slots at the top and the bottom of the page.

You have your signature space, your user title space, none of which I see is being utilized.

 

Weekly event is always in my signature, and 'late' entries are allowed if they are submitted and verified before the winners are announced and prizes requested. The point that no CDT members have won or even placed top 3 for several weeks still remains and it isn't required for anyone to use their signature or UT space to advertise the threads, the events are for the community and people should be able to find the events themselves in most cases.

 

actually, i think i won third place for one of the CDT summer events, and i just gave it to the next runner up which was sonia. The point of the games isnt for prizes, its for friendly competition for community driven individuals with an incentive of a prize. we dont even have to reward prizes if we dont want to, yes, id be highly frown upon, but it is the truth. Just because one person 'hosts' a game, does mean they are paying themselves either. The sponsor pays for one of our games, if we get one for that event.

 

I haven't really payed attention to anything CDT in the last six weeks so can't argue that. When I did pay attention then they were always winning though.

 

Ive been busy. Just curious what did you give to me for what summer event?
