'Ghost' bans for the spammy scum that join this community?

I assume most of the ban evaders and scammers work alone and do not engage with the rest of the community on a personal level outside of the website. This is likely as they would have to keep updating their friends with their vader skypes/contact details/aliases etc.

Would it be possible to ban them, but ina way so they don't realise they have been banned? So they waste their time thinking they're still posting topics and messaging people, when in fact all of their content cannot be seen by other users?

I think this would be more time efficient for the moderation of the market and constant 'war' we have against scammers. This time could be put into improving the community in other ways, instead of hunting vaders and scammers all of the time.

I know scammers could grow wise to this quickly and start refreshing their topics on another device or in incognito windows, but if it's relatively easy to add, then it still saves some moderation time.

 

Well i might be wrong but as i see it they just spam the shit out of the forums quickly and move on to another sythe account, so i doubt it would really make much difference.

I don't think this is easy to add neither do I think it'll be worth our time if they will soon realise a way around it. The only way I can think of is to have staff approve conversations too before they are able to be send, but that's not going to happen for sure because I'm sure alot of private stuff is being said there too.

 

I believe the term for this is member discouragement. Its when you would make lives of Sythe members much worse for them that they end up just leaving the site.

 

I don't think it's worth adding for the time that is probably going to be spent to create it.

But any suggestions that discourage ban evaders and scammers in any get an approval from me.
