PC build for the AMD Thread Ripper?

Hey guys, I'm trying to build a PC (first time building one) because I want to run a bunch of rs clients. I think the AMD Ryzen Threadripper would be the way to go. My issue is I do not know what requirements the cpu would need to run.

I know I need a cheap graphics card (i will not be doing anything other than running runescape)
I also need a specific kind of motherboard (not sure which).

Any build suggestions/advice/stories are much appreciated. Thanks!

So, King Krab, How many clients are you looking to run? I recently helped someone here on sythe build a rig for powerleveling, and it went beyond his expectations. He hasn't actually tested the limit of clients able to run simultaniously, but he was able to run 18 with ease.

I advised him to go with the R5 1600X (it was cheap at the time) and a B350 Chipset motherboard.

If you'd like my help on building this rig (only if your serious) I'd gladly share my insight and give you suggestions for components based on your requirements.

 

Although you said it bluntly enough, yeah - I came to sythe for help not to be linked to another forum >.<.
Anyway, I visited some of the places he did direct me too and came out with a pcbuild I'm pretty happy with.

1950x Threadripper, 32gb ram, 128gb ssd, enermax liqtech cpu, Asus Prime 399x-a eatx MOBO, 750w Power supply, 780 GTX (if my old 980 GTX won't do the job).

I'm also getting a 27 in. 4K monitor to run it on! No overlapping clients

 

Let me know how many accs you can run on that because my potatos are gonna fry from the small number of clients I have open ;s

 

Do some research on RAM that is compatible with your CPU and motherboard. I've heard that the new Ryzen gen CPUs have had problems with RAM clocking at under 3000MHz. That could have been solved with a firmware update at this point, though. Just might be something worth looking in to.

 

This looks like a good one, you can delete a few things off here if you can use the components from your previous build.
