Scam insurance.

kind of another tag like 100-500$ donator exept the money you put up is kept to pay back your scam victims if you ever do scam. It would be a refundable deposit but you have to make a public post and wait a week or 2 to get the money you put in back. Users would probaly buy more if they knew the guy had collat up.

It's basically the same thing as donator status tho tbh. People put up $200 to scam $400+. It's a false sense of trust.

 

I first read it and thought it was an alright idea, but something in the back of my mind didn't like it. No idea what that was till Gen reminded me with his post.

Can be too easily abused.

You'd be giving players an extra false sense of security though. Sythe explicitly states that just because someone has high donor status, it doesn't mean they won't scam. If they were to offer a deposit method, some of the people scammed would get their money back, sure. But the one/two or however many that can't be covered by the deposit amount would lose out on the money they got scammed and it makes the whole rank useless anyways since it's whole purpose is to refund people who are scammed. It would be creating unnecessary work/trouble for the higher-ups.

 

This won't happen and has already been suggested a million times, just be careful when trading and use an MM when necessary.

 

Also may lead to an increase in false reports with the objective of getting some if the insurance money

You mean buy trust and scam double the amount to profit? No support.

 

What if it were to be done by having a trade limit.

For example if I were to invest £100 of my own money to get this status that let me trade upto the value of £100.

I could only sell an item to the value of £100 that would eliminate scamming more than what you've deposited.

Oh wait, maybe its pointless since I suppose you could Scam Quid Multipe £100's at once.

 

Barriers to entry on the market @Rivenstarz just won't happen

 

Since it's a free market, anyone should freely be able to trade anyone, using their own common sense and wit in order to not get scammed. I don't think things like this should be implemented.

 

Donator status doesn't really mean much to me tbh when people donate via PayPal and then scam quit / chargeback when they want. I'm speaking as a victim of this btw. If it wasn't possible for donators to reclaim there donation then less of them would scam. Unless I'm missing something and Sythe have methods in place already to stop this? But I've definitely seen it happen before.

As for the OPs suggestion it would be a logistical nightmare for admins with false accusations. Whilst that added security would be nice the buyers on here are as equally as bad as sellers.

its a wonderful idea and all, but it would get abused so much

the market is safe enough as it is providing you take the time to read all the free information available to you in the stickies

 

I only see this working with cryptocurrency. The idea is nice, it's just about how you go about managing it. I see many issues coming from this however.

 

This has been suggested many times in the past. The staff team has been told for legal reasons we will not be receiving/holding deposits.
