What makes you come back to Sythe?

What is your reason for coming back?

My reason is to see if SG has been given a viable use, preferably for posting.

 

I found that this forum gives you a good gauge of how the rs community currently is. I started playing RS back in 2005, played on and off a few years. I've seen rs3 go to shit then come back strong on OSRS. Also, this forum talks crypto, which is great. I'm looking to get back into rs a bit and RWT, but I want to use this forum to explore those topics.

To be honest...
Sythe is weird.
There were numerous times when I would make $100s of dollars in like a week from barely playing runescape-I would stake and then sell all the gp-. But after winning much money, I would get super lazy on sythe and make no profit at all and just waste time browsing through the spam forum, and never actually using the market.
I'd go through phases of SUPER commitment to buying and selling, flipping GP constantly, making like $4 a flip and feeling content with myself, but then I would stop playing because $4 was measly to me (I grew up in a super rich family).
But I come back every time I quit, because it teaches me lessons about not giving up, and making me respect how much time and effort goes into making cash(I take money for granted NO DOUBT)...Even though I extremely hate sythe sometimes for how many scammers are on here that deteriorate the dollar on here.

My childhood was runescape, not stupid video games. (No disrespect)

I left for a while for no reason, just didn't come on. I didn't really miss it. I missed the Discord more than anything and it required that I re-verify to come back on, so I ~had~ to log back in to the forums. Now that I've got my 2fa back I may as well post around I guess.

Truth is this place isn't how it used to be. Everyone says it at one point or another, they'll say the site is dying, RS is dying, blah blah blah, but the truth is that this place has always *sort of* been that way. This time when I say it I mean it though. It's not the same at all anymore, even from like this time last year. A lot of good people aren't around or aren't active anymore and the place feels empty without those connections.

 

The community has lost its identity just a *little* bit more each year to the point where what used to be here is unrecognizable. The development of the site on the other hand has been really impressive. That might just mean that the newer community is more in touch with the site as it is today. I mean I can't imagine the mean age of users has gotten much higher than it was five years ago either. I check Sythe now as I would Reddit or Facebook.

 

It falls in line with the Runescape demographic. Most people who play it these days are not new kids being introduced for the first time, but those who remember it from their own childhoods and are coming back to play it.

What's interesting though is that the Discord is pretty good. That's where the community is these days. It's odd that it doesn't translate as well to the site, considering it's all the same users.

I agree with blu/sypherz the community was a lot different last year and if you're involved ...whether it be drama or the whole cdt thing then really there isn't anything else.

@Wonderland @Blupig @sypherz do you guys still play any online games?

I've noticed since I've stopped playing rs I'm less involved in the market and then the community isn't worth it for me to actively spend time here .....other than a few creative cdt events or discord.

I reckon if you play games you're more likely to be active with the market and community.

 

Honestly, just to hang out and chill on discord/create community events. I'm not really here to make $

 

Just to buy/sell gold for some staking sessions. Better odds than the casino.

There are still lots of amazing people in the Sythe community, also Sythe offers a lot of opportunities.

 

Yeah, my top games right now are GTA 5 Online, Playerunknown's, and maybe Rust if @Kaska gets me back into it
