Should be the Bump-Button Mandatory ?

Is there functionality to allow people besides the OP to bump a thread with the button? I bump a thread advertising a CC, but I am not the OP of the thread. I have edit access for the first post but I don't have bump button access.

If this functionality doesn't exist then I think there will be issues with making the bump button mandatory. I'm sure a lot of gold seller threads are bumped by their workers.

 

Ah so it disapeers. Perhaps if it was greyed out (with a timer) then I would be more aware it exists? Ill use it from now on ty.

Also maybe putting it at the top would help

No support. Habit for some people who have been on this site for years. Why punish habit?

 

Just wanted to update that I couldnt find the bump button. Still no clue where it is

 

No support as well, trust shouldn't be based off of post count as it is. So typing in bump shouldn't reflect that as a positive or a negative.

 

So there is no issue with changing how bumping should be done?

But I don't think it should be mandatory, I've been reading through replies and if post count doesn't count torward trust then it shouldn't matter whether you gain post count from bumping or not should it?

I'm struggling to see the actual issue people have with bumping manually apart from post count which shouldn't really be considered an issue seeing as this is a FORUM

 

Post count is the biggest reason for why users are against the change. The argument should be flipped. If it does not matter, then why be against making the button mandatory? Logically it makes no sense to use the button over posting manually unless you're using the feature that is associated with it and even then it's trumped by being able to gain post count effortlessly. It kind of spoils the reason for it's creation. For quality purposes, it makes sense to make it mandatory. See my reply a page back listing some reasons.

 

Hey, thanks for that I went back and looked at your positives list and I agree with you in every point you made of why it would be a positive (besides #5 because I'm still not totally sure on what Sythe gold is lol).

I think the point you're maybe missing is that people don't really like change, from what I'm reading there has never been a bump button before and people enjoy gaining "effortless" post count so they're inclined to side against you whether it would be a benefit to the site or not.

People will be more concerned with their own wants as opposed as to what's best for the overall community and as sad as the reality is, it applies to real-life too, it's like offering 1 Sythe member $10,000 or if they choose decline the whole website gets $1,000 each, 9/10 times the persons taking that $10,000 for themselves.

So in conclusion, you are right, I agree, it would be beneficial given the points you made, so I changed my vote to yes, however sadly, not everyone's will put the community over themselves in terms of priority and beneficial change.

 

The point is changing bumping isn't going to do anything but piss of people who have been doing it the same way forever, there is zero benefit to changing it. Because post count isn't a symbol of trust.

 

I agree with the first point about it just pissing people off but you're being completely narrow minded toward the actual point he's trying to make.

Your argument is basically "Post count doesn't make you trusted so there doesn't need to be a bump button".

I don' think he's actually trying to say that it should be mandatory because of post count being about trust, if you actually looked at the points you'd realise that most if not all of them are actually accurate and relevant.

You can't tell me this list of benefits isn't accurate. You say post count has no correlation with trust yet you don't want to accept that making it mandatory COULD be an actual benefit if you look at the FACTS and not your WANTS.

You're post is just bandwagoning the rest of the opposes without giving any REAL reasoning.

 

Change will always be unsettling for a lot of people. That doesn't mean we shouldn't evolve to appease those people.

 

Maybe once the button has been around long enough for everyone to be familiar with it, but at the current time most people don't even know one was added.

The only way I'd support making the bump button mandatory is if they sent out a PM to every player with instructions on how to use it.
