Addition to the RSPS section

Since @A Broken man was on the topic on how to go about cleaning up the RSPS trading section of the forums, I thought another great addition would be to have the rule "this section is under temporary moderated status!" apply to the RSPS trading market when creating a new thread as it would help prevent spam, and scam threads from being posted, and having to wait until it is reported, and/or a moderator sees it to take it down. It would also prevent ban evaders from continuously coming back to post threads in the RSPS market on a VPN. By not moderating it before allowing someone to post, it gives users with bad intentions on this website an easier way to target innocent users, and ultimately scam them. On the thread mentioned before by @video it stated that this is used in all gold trading sections of the forums, but it isn't there, although it should be.

What are everyone elses thoughts on this? I know it may be annoying for staff to handle this everyday throughout the day, but it would definitely create a safer trading environment, which is the ultimate goal.

Not sure, we're already having troubles approving all the threads in the WTB/WTS sections of RS3/07 so this'll only bring us more workload. Also, realise that we can not spot new scammers or ban evaders who scam but haven't been caught. Scams will keep happening no matter what and I don't think making it harder for people to post threads is going to minimize the amount of scams happening. I believe some scam victims should partially blame themselves for being scammed because they either trust people too much or they are trading way too careless. We're dealing with alot of scam reports daily and what those scam reports especially lack are in-game trading proof. I don't get why nobody just records every trade they are doing, even when trading in RSPS.

Last but not least I believe the reason the other sections are moderated now is to prevent those imposter websites from spamming the forums.

 

Simple answer is that the problem wasn't nearly as big in the private server section as it was in the main gold sections. If you can prove otherwise, we can implement this policy there as well

 

This will definitely increase the workload, but if it creates a safer trader environment, then why not just get more staff? Obviously you can't just pick random people, but there are some good candidates, and it's a volunteered position, so getting more staff to monitor that would take the workload off you, and other staff members at the moment. Scams will definitely keep happening you're right, but at the same time you have to realize that this will reduce scams, and catch on to a majority of ban evaders before their thread is public. How you may ask? Well ban evaders will always post on a VPN, or not at all because they know how easily they could get caught from a home IP, so simply when they make a thread, then a staff member will review it before making it public, and if they're not on a home IP they will get banned. Obviously ban evaders could just make an account on a VPN, and not post at all, and add peoples skypes through threads they've browsed, but this would crack down on them much more than you think. Also imposter websites do come on the RSPS section as well, but it's probably not near as bad as it would be on the 07 trading market. You do make solid points though @Wortel , and I understand where you come from completely with every point from the time consumption to the scam victims who trade carelessly, but this is just my opinion, and obviously everyone has a different point a view on these things.

You're right that the problem isn't as major as it is in the 07 trading market, but that doesn't mean there isn't a problem. I can't link anything because I've reported several of these posts, but there are numerous ban evaders coming back, and making new threads either advertising a PayPal scam, or trying to scam other users everyday. Back to @Wortel point though he's definitely right that some scam victims are to blame here for being to careless, and you could point to that being the main issue, but this is just my opinion, and obviously I understand if this were to be denied because of the time, and effort that would have to be drawn here as well on top of all the other moderator/administrator duties you guys have.

 

Keeping the sections moderated was a measure taken to combat spammers, it is not intended to tackle general ban evasion

 

Yeah I understand that it's there to combat spammers / imposters, but it could help deal with ban evaders as well right?

 

It's a barrier of entry to any new user, vader or not, but it doesn't actually prevent vading or scamming. It is just a measure to prevent the mass spamming that had been a problem previously. If you see anyone who is a ban evader, please report them
