A stricter enforcement of the False Advertising rule

I would just add that as a disclaimer within your thread for designers. That would absolve you from any issue regarding this rule.

The title must reflect their actual buying price at the present time. If they are not offering their advertised rate at the time you click their thread/site then that is false advertising.

This was a concern we thought of when addressing this rule so the answer here is that at the time you bump the thread, you must be actively buying/selling/whatever. There were users who would bump their thread even though they were not actually buying/selling/whatever and this rule aims to prevent that from happening. I would throw out a rough estimate of about 5-15 minutes from the time you bump, you must be actively trading in that area but that won't be set in stone. You won't be affected if you bump your thread buying gold, fill up on stock, and then later are no longer buying.

That is correct and would fall under the "threads must be accurate" at all times. The price advertised must reflect what a customer interacting with the site/livechat will experience. Saying "we pay .9/m through paypal but 1.2/m if you accept seashells valued at $5 per seashell" that is not allowed. That's an extreme example of course

These phrases are still allowed. The rule change refers to quantitative and factual statements that can be proven false

That is one reason for the 1 week "grace period". We want everyone's questions to be answered and for expectations to be clear and understood before enacting punishment

So how do you plan to tackle auto bumpers? They bump every 8 hours and are left unattended for longer than that. Are you expecting the auto bumper manager to ask the workers just before every 8 hours to make sure they are currently buying gold and what prices they are currently buying for? I can tell you that simply won't happen because it's asinine. Similarly, prices can easily change hourly for some websites, expecting them to be constantly up to date is just ridiculous. It's such a nitpicky thing to moderate; it's a waste of time. There are plenty of scenarios, such as the one I've mentioned above, that make this simply not practical. What happens if the threads are bumped and the worker has no control over it while the autobumper manager is asleep or unable to be reached? What happens if they buy gold as its being bumped and they can't buy any more minutes after bump? What happens if livechat is just too busy for them to be able to edit the prices on their thread as their buy price changes?

I don't support this change whatsoever, there are other issues that are more important and focusing in on something so trivial is just dumb.

I recognize the concerns here but the bigger issue is that autobumpers have been used in a way they shouldn't have been. We have never permitted people bumping threads without intent to buy/sell but people have been autobumping every 8 hours regardless if they are trading or not. Starting next Sunday, this will not be allowed. This may mean that you need to adjust your autobumper settings or switch back to a manual bump system. Thread owners have to accept responsibility for maintaining an accurate presence and not making false claims or bumping just because they can.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, if you bump while you are actively using the thread you bumped, then you are in the clear. The issue was people bumping while not actually using the thread simply to maintain their presence at the top of the page. This is no longer acceptable. It is expected that you may bump a thread but later no longer be using it, we are just holding you accountable for using the thread when the bump happens.

As for keeping prices accurate, if you find yourself unable to keep your price accurate throughout the day for various reasons, then I would recommend putting a range of prices or leaving off the price altogether. It has gotten to the point where thread titles and bodies are often completely meaningless because they are not updated when they should be. You can call this asinine but I disagree. What we are now enforcing are some absolute basic standards of accuracy that for years have not been maintained by shop owners. I know you are all smart and capable people who can keep your threads accurate

If earlier I was clicking thread with name-"Buying osrs gold at 1$",then in the thread was "Current price: 0.90$" and finally in Skype buyer said "Buying at 0.85" ,now they will be punished for this waste of my time.

 

I definitely agree that this is a good rule given that if you go to any section, be it buying gold or selling accounts, the people that have their topics on the front page more than likely aren't even online / active. This makes it a real pain when trying to find someone without wasting a lot of time.

My only note is that, as someone else already said, this is somewhat hypocritical because the prices listed in Sythe advertisements are usually false.
