    Misleading Market Titles

People in the market place constantly claim to have best prices or the cheapest, and this seems like at the very least extremely misleading to users who are unfamiliar with the market and go and buy gold, accounts, etc. under the impression they're the cheapest when its obvious they aren't the cheapest. Before people try to combat this, put yourself in the shoes of people who are new to the market at see a thread claiming cheapest prices and they go and buy 07 at a price of $1.2/mil and later find out it wasn't the cheapest price when they could easily find a seller for a $1/mil. It should be against the rules to have unsubstantiated claims in your thread titles considering infractions have already occurred towards sites claiming these things in the past as well:

    "Bogla" False Advertising Scam Report

In this case there was no actual transaction, but they were advertising a service under an unsubstantiated claim.

False prices are unfournately part of the market.

If theres an insurance company advertising they have the best rates when there are 10 company's cheaper then them, they don't get punished, its just a marketing tactic.

The irony for me personally is I actually update our threads every day or 2 and take the time to keep our rates updated and try to avoid making claims like "cheapest" (even though we actually do tend to be).

While this suggestion would help me personally I honestly believe you cant restrict marketing tactics like the other gold sites are doing.

    It's a no from me.

This suggestion has already been previously made and indeed it is a rule if you read the official Sythe rules here: The Official Sythe.org Rules

Be sure to always report any rule breakers as it clutters/slows businesses when others false advertise/click-bait.

Nowadays people don't usually go through the hassel of going to your site finding out the gold prices and finding out if you charge a 5% extra fee due to paypal or whatever BS.

I read that and was confused because it wasn't enforced, so I thought it'd be best to make a suggestion as obviously nothing is being done

Saying you're the cheapest is one thing, but providing false rates to manipulate the market is another.

Staff can't constantly monitor every market section of the website on a daily basis to ensure this isn't happening. It's almost always happening in some shape or form. That's where staff rely on user reports to assist and I strongly encourage its usage. They can be very effective. I suppose it's possible to add requirements for constant monitoring of the market, but a lot of things would go undone and we prefer the market to stay as free as possible so long as the rules are being followed.

I feel as if it'd take only one week max for people to get it through their heads to not put it in the thread titles once it gets enforced as it only takes an example to get others to follow foot. Not to per se infract people for it right away, but to just get rid of the part's claiming cheapest and letting them know the reason why

I really think it's an extremely nitpicky thing to monitor. Companies in the real world constantly say things along these lines: gazelle buying iPhones for the "best price", Walmart having the "best prices", etc. This is how companies advertise. If you believe it and don't do your own research then that's your choice.

The issue is that its already against the rules
    • False or Misleading Advertising: Your sales/purchase threads must be accurate and updated promptly to reflect your actual prices/offers. If you advertise an offer significantly different to your actual prices then this is false advertising.

Prices change daily, you expect people to go to every single store and check prices every few minutes before they can use the word "cheapest"?

I still think its up to the customer to do research on what they're buying before purchasing.

Support this to an extent. I think it's fine to use trigger words like 'cheapest' etc as that's just standard marketing really. However, when sites have their price in the thread title and when you go to their live chat it's actually out by $0.2, that's a problem. Considering that's ~15-20% of the price and they're advertising rates that far out, it becomes less of a marketing strategy and more of a pisstake, leading to wasting people's time in the majority of cases.

Staff have better places to spend their resources at. If someone is doing it on purpose and you can prove it though then report them.

I believe saying "Cheapest gold" is fine, but saying a specific price when that price is not what is actually being sold at should be a 3-day ban at least, just so it's not disregarded as "it'll be worth an infraction if someone actually checks"

I think gold sellers should be accountable for the rates they offer.

If they have the time to bump their thread, they have the time to update their prices imo
