How come this is the community where it happens?

    Hey everyone,

I know that this is probably not the best or smartest topic to talk about, but I've seen so many topics about people that have passed away and were part of this community, I have never seen it on any other website where users post mention other users that have passed away as a message. I mean that Isn't it a bit weird to talk about people that have passed away on a forum?

Sorry if Im not making sense, but it seems weird to me.

Anything anyone can say to change my mind?

Well not really, I mean they are people that you have come to get to know over the course of years / months. I knew n4n0 for example for quite a few years since 2011 / 2012, we stopped talking sometime back but we obviously still knew each other. Then logging on one day and finding out they've passed away does hit home, knowing you'll never ever see them post again or ever be online ever ever again is pretty strange when you think about it. Anything you and that person chatted about or had conversations is kind of no longer in existence (if that makes sense). Also remember that some users on this site have gotten to know each other to the point of meeting up irl etc;, so for some people it is a case of losing an irl friend that they met online originally.

And I'm sure most other communities would do the same for their members if they were relatively well known on there. You could consider it an unfortunate coincidence that we've had 3 notable members on the site pass away in the last 2 years. Other communities may have simply had no one known in their communities that have passed away, it is entirely possible.

Most communities don't still have the same members 10 years later. Within a 10 year span in any reasonably large cohort (your high school peers for example) you will get a few deaths. Part of life unfortunately.
