When a user submits a post, every (hyper) link should be checked.

    For example

Planetsgold.com -> will confirm it actually redirects to this URL

A common scam is making the hyperlink say the name of a popular goldsite and then redirecting it to a .eu equivalent (**************)

Shouldnt be a hard fix. @Sythe

If not I was planning on writing a simple bot to just check posts in that section from anyone < 50 posts for this type of scamming and make an automatic scam report. But still takes time, someone was just scammed this way the other day.

Edit: hahahaa its blacklisted ^^^ But im not sure if its just the name thats blacklisted but perhaps any link to it as well (I hope)

I think hyperlinks to external websites should just be a donator privilege and it would solve this problem as a whole

Ok then how does your bot differentiate from someone saying "click here" and it links to the website. Will it make a scam report on them too?

Even if this link privilege is only a market thing, but I still see people get scammed by those day-in day-out scammers with those fake ass links and stolen banners so the need for this suggestion is reawl.

Original post does seem something that'd be hard to implement. As you noticed most of those links are already blacklisted. I don't think there's anything else that can be done.
That does seem like a good one, but then it should be able to tell apart internal and external links. And in such case, what will it do with Gyazo links etc?

You cant limit hyperlinks to external websites to donors only guys >.>

That one would massively crush the market, you'd essentially be making people donate $100-$200 to advertise a new gold site or new league site or rsps or anything.

    Cant do that one >.>

I'm fine with OP's suggestion but it sounds resource and server heavy, I don't know that for sure but as long as its not slowing down the site or burning to many resources I'd be fine with it.

Its a "slippery slope" to quote a famous politician, once u go down that road you cant come back.

Sythe has always maintained not creeping into the free market and the market is whats currently holding sythe up still.

You cannot risk potentially killing new members business's and ability to link url's so that donors can have a new perk, you risk undermining the base of what every market is built off of- new market users.

It won't kill anything, you can easily trade without a website, and there is probably like 1 out of 1k+ new (legit)members that use them anyway, so the effect to the market would be close to none and there is no need to exaggerate it

Every gold site in existence wouldn't be here if what your suggesting was implemented.

I started with $140 and spent $125 of it on my first gold site, anyone who trys to start in the gold industry in a similar situation cant afford to have to donate $100-$200.

I know many of the giants and gold sites started with similar amounts.

Building a gold site is starting from the bottom and working up- you cant discourage those people by forcing them to donate money they may not have or may need for their startup.

It becomes a catch 22, they have to donate to be able to grow their site but can barely afford to do so, what if you end up killing their business because they've only got $50-$100 left to run the site with?

Your assuming everyone trying to advertise a URL just happens to have $100-$200 around.

I'm not exaggerating, I'm living proof of what I'm saying.

As i said, a website isn't necessary for trading, and everyone who spends their last money on it is just plain stupid in my opinion

That's quite the success story and all, but if somebody only has a couple hundred dollars left over, they should 100% get off their ass, down the street, and start applying for part/full time work to raise more capital. People who have the audacity to desire self employment for the rest of their life, shouldn't feel sorry for themselves and expect it to be easy. The market doesn't care about anybody, it's not a living being that goes "aww he's so passionate but only has $100, let's make it easy for him".

    TLDR:

Although I agree with tigeris on this point, I don't agree with his initial idea further up. This isn't pbot where you pay $200 for the privilege to advertise offsite links. It's a free market and has been branded that way for many years.

I understand the reason to implement such a limitation would be to stop the cloned site scammers, but it wouldn't be fair to, let's say, some huge vendors who have been registered over 10 years, yet have only donated $5.

That being said, I support the idea of making things harder for the scammers, but scammers can also simply attach the link to graphics other than text, so I don't think any fancy code will work, as there's likely to be a loophole.

I think the only way to do this would be to have some form of verification tag, identifying topics which have had their sites proven legitimate.

Part of me also believes it's a waste of time as the harsh reality is that there will always be idiots and/or naive people who throw their money at scammers without being logical, and unfortunately there will always be those people who's only intentions are scamming, such as the site cloners.

Also a solution to this might be new(editing) threads to require mod approval before appearing to everyone, but knowing how slow mod can take some times(and the time required) i don't think it would work very well

I normally don't agree or attempt to troll bus,
But on this topic he is right,
I don't support this even though it make the market safer ,
    why?
It's limit starting websites from entering the market,
The whole idea of sythe is that it is a free market.
    I really dislike this idea.

We can't limit new website to prevented scamming website's it's not fair.
