IA. I started last year, just in time for the flooding in Baton Rouge, LA back in August. I'm really enjoying it so far.

Money magnifies what you already are.
Money doesn't equate to happiness, this is correct.
But serving other people does.
You can serve few people without money, but with money, you can serve thousands, if not millions.
I use money as a means to create freedom for myself, then I can pursue my life goal of helping and serving others more.

 

Ben Franklin can lick my line honestly money buys everything I can say that having lived below the poverty line for a full year and almost all the depression was because of no money.

The people that say it doesn't buy happiness are the ones that have too much money.

Anyone that says money doesn't buy happiness try not knowing where your next meal is coming from then get back to me.

For better or worse money is the root of everything in this society.

Here's the thing, you may be unhappy with money, but you sure as hell will be MORE unhappy without it.

 

Exactly. I had periods of time where I had to go 5 full days without eating. Could money have bought me some happiness there? Yes.

Those cliched quotes always come from rich bored people or people that don't know real struggle. Very few of those "sage quotes" come from actual poor people.

 

You know I actually think people that spout the
"Money isn't everything"
are lower income to middle class people that try and rationalize the fact that they aren't wealthy or affluent.
It's a typical way of justifying being broke, and really, being UNWILLING to learn or grow.
Wealth is no secret - anyone can be wealthy.
People make a conscious decision everyday to pursue it or not.

Just people in general.

 

That's a good way of looking at it. I shouldn't have been so zoomed in on wealth alone as people are all different and mindsets all different. I am of a mindset that I am going to work my ass off to get out of being at the bottom of the totem pole.

It's been a long journey but the light at the end of the tunnel and living in comfort is the only reason I haven't shot myself in the face yet.

Hence why I'm trying to do what I've stated I am in this thread. Money cant buy happiness but it can buy everything else I guess?

Currently a head chef for a new, mainly seafood restaurant.
Going back to school after summer for business major, so we'll see what it'll be after that.

Currently studying at Uni for mechanical engineering.

 

u wanna know why people think money is so important? this entire generation is brainwashed.

 

Currently a laborer for a masonry company, I operate machinery mostly.

This year I plan on joining the police academy though.

 

Was working full time as security. Now am part time with another job (won't disclose). If you have ADHD, don't do security. Time always goes by slow and it's boring.

Note: Security jobs are different depending what you're doing and whom you're assigned to.

 

University final year student (finish in 5ish weeks)

I am a serial entrepreneur. My rs gold site and other live chat work was my main source of income for a while, but now I have my own company.

I choose several sources of income rather than one as I'm still "finding myself" and I'm thinking long term instead of just the next 6 months or year.

My degree will be fairly pointless, unless i choose to work for somebody else instead of myself in the future. Having said that, 3 years of cheap living, and experiencing the 'Uni Life' has been worthwhile in many areas of my life

 

On weekdays, I work as a dishwasher at an "upscale, authentic" Chinese restaurant to pay for college. On weeknights I'm a janitor at a high school. It's pretty cool work; I can't imagine doing anything else that would give me the sense of fulfillment that these jobs supply.

 

Currently working for Amazon. Funny enough I always hear people saying it sucks and people get fired a lot, second part is true if you're lazy. It's a good place to be if you want the prospects of potentially living wherever you want through their transfer system.

 

Currently working as a surgical scheduler for some neurosurgeons. It's demanding work with very long hours, and I won't be doing it much longer. Taking a long trip to SE Asia, then heading back to med school (had to drop out to help with some family issues). Obviously planning on becoming a doctor, though I still don't know what I'll specialize in.
