    In order to prevent possible abuse of the exploit Annex noticed, this rule is in effect for this section:
    • Do not post links to .vbp, .cls, .bas, or .frm files, or archives containing them. All sources must be within [code] sections - unless you're staff, or have a VB Programmer rank.
    Also, in general, don't run sources posted UNLESS YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY WILL DO!

    Because the section has been unused for a month I'll archive all the unstickied posts right now.

    I said move on as in move to VB2005 or 2008, 6 is outdated the only reason dumbasses like you use it is because there are a ton of examples already out there and you don't want to code anything yourself.

    Actually the reason I learned vb6 is because thats what I was given when I was 10. One of my parent's friends saw that I was tiring of internet programming and gave me a copy of vb6 from his job. That is why, not because I am lazy, or because there are millions of example.

    Actually, the main reason people still use 6 is that it's actually native Win32 code and .NET is intermediate bytecode like Java applets.

    I have both Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional and Visual Studio 6.0 Enterprise, and I use 6 more often - I dislike .NET for that reason.

    Yeah I'll stick with c++, vb6, and delphi7.
    .NET makes baby Jesus cry.

    =(

    Not to bitch, but by not being able to post zipped project, most people here wont know how to make a source work.

    Yes it teaches them how to add controls, rename and examine source code, but it will most likely increase the "it doesn't work, I R A NUB"

    Well, if it helps separate the idiots from the decent coders, it's doing some good.

    Even if a noob is trying to learn, it helps to view a project rather than just the code. Lets face it, if we don't help the noobs learn, then VB6 will die, is THAT what we want for our beloved child?

    When I started, my first language was VB6 (regrettably; I should've started with VB.NET) and there were several things I wanted to do in code, but couldn't. VB.NET, in my opinion, is more complete because its Object-Oriented, which is the language that makes the money. In my personal opinion, VB.NET does everything VB6 couldn't/can't. For those IT Professionals to-be or those that want to have command of a language that has functionality way beyond the bounds of VB6, turn to VB.NET.
    If you're just wanting to learn how to code because you heard about it and think its kewl, start with a language that will actually DO something for you in the future. VB6 is hardly used in businesses because people find it more efficient to program with an Object-Oriented mentality.
    There's my 2cents...

    I like vb6 i have made programs/games in java, vb6, vb 2008, and scar going to start on c++. Scar being my first, vb6, java, then 2008 so far vb6 was my favorite for the simpler things and java i made most games in. Vb 2008 i have been using cause i lost download of vb6 and vb 2008 is similar in ways to me, but im sticking with vb6 out of them 2.
