    Getting rid of demotivation

Hello fellow sythe members. This is the first time ever I feel like I need a bit personal support and since we have this awesome forum with good members I'm trying my luck in here.

Currently, I've got my Professional Bachelor's degree in software development and unemployed(Searching for a job). Throughout my years in school I've always tried my best to manage handing in my projects before the deadline (most of the time) because I felt that I was "forced" to it because I didn't want to fall behind.

My grades weren't always the best(they were not bad either). I would get middle/high middle grades(by that I mean B's and mostly C's) but I would not work hard enough(in my opinion) because I always felt a lack in my motivation. I would just think that as long as I pass the class, it should be enough. I know for a fact that if I worked harder I would get much better and higher grades(which would also mean better knowledge of the stuff in my education).
I had no luck finding a part time job related to my studies during my school time (been to a few job interviews but got declined and gave up on them to focus on school instead). Maybe this was a mistake because finding a job would be ALOT easier to find a job if I had some experience prior.

So I'm sitting here 2 months after my graduation from school feeling a little bit regret that I didn't try harder atleast to be better at what I am going to work with in my life. Here is also the demotivation kicking in again. I could go watch tutorials on the internet but don't have the motivation to it. You may ask: is it because you don't have interest in what you do? No, I feel like this with everything that has a learning curve. I can take the first step to it, but the next few steps are really dificult because the demotivation always kicks in.

    To point out an example:
I've always had a big passion for games since I was a little kid. Today (I'm 24 in May :D) I am still playing many different kind of games which could bring me joy. That's why I wanted to try to learn and program my own game. I started to watch a series on youtube on how you can create mobile games on Unity 3d shortly after i ended school. The series taught me the basics which was enough to create a simple game, however this demotivation on starting on a new and the urge and need to learn new things started to kick in again. I've always had an issue on taking the last few steps and not stop in the middle of something new.

I know this was a long wall of text, but I just felt that I needed to because I've felt empty and have a hard time motivating myself to keep doing things in my life that I know will end up good. I feel like I'm wasting too much time on the internet doing nothing but browsing irrelevant stuff. So my question is how do you or what do I need to do to take the last few steps and not just give up too early because demotivation is kicking in.

TL;DR = How do you guys get rid of your demotivation?

For me this was a huge issue as well. All you really have to do that worked for me is to help you find a new hobby that would take your mind off of the internet. Mine was going to the gym, golfing, going to events, and even just going and studying in the library instead of my room.

However, for your current situation, you have to get out there and find a job. Whether it's making your own landscape business or working a low end job. Everyone needs experience at some point. I've been working since i was 15 and I gained 2 manager / supervisor spots and 1 specialist job since. I am now 21 with the experience. You may think it's just a waste cause it's a bottom barrel job, but everyone has to get through it at some point. You just have to do it. No way of getting out of it.

Dont quote me on this but I think it is proven that when you tell other people "Ok I am going to do xxx, watch me" that you are more inclined to keep going than if you were to keep things to yourself. Besides this make something that reminds you to do things. For example make a planning like: monday, wednesday and friday from 20:00 - 21:00 I'll watch tutorials. This works a lot better than "Meh I'll see, maybe I'll do something tomorrow" or something like that, make things concrete.

Another thing is to set goals and rewards. You could make these fun and a bit like a game like:
10 tutorials watched - Time for a treat! (food)
1 month following the planning - Time for a little holiday - remove one day in the planning one time
Small game made - Let your family know and let them try it out, celebration time!

Besides this it is important to dont go over the top. It's better to keep a nice and steady slow pase than to spend 1 week full-time on it and then dont have any motivation for the coming month.

it's not a lack of motivation or a surplus of demotivation. it's a lack of discipline. find other ways in your life to discipline yourself and the practice will spread to other aspects of your life.

motivation is a temporary force of encouragement, it doesn't last forever.

Objects in motion tend to stay in motion, ones at rest will stay resting until a certain force is applied

For your case the force is willpower to get yourself started and once you have, keep going!

The only place that I notice myself unmotivated would be before I go the the gym. To solve that I force myself to drink some pre workout then my body forces me to go. So I guess what I'm saying is find your "pre-workout" that forces you to do things. In other aspects of my life I always remind myself everything I do and put up with is for my family and so that my kids can have a better life than I had. Usually gets me through most situations I encounter.
