    CV help?

    Hey guys,

I've been applying to irl jobs for a while now and I've heard nothing back. I have good experience and skills but I've heard nothing back; I think this is due to my CV. I'm using an old version of word so the formatting is off and it just looks unprofessional

Would anyone be able to take a look and see what needs changing and to also put it in a .PDF file or a newer version of word? Will happily pay 07gp for this :)

    Thanks

I'll take a look if you like, I've gone over a few CVs for my friends and put it together in a better way.

Or you can just post it here and remove personal details from it (for example remove a University name with "Generic university" or whatever).

That won't work, we need to see how you've formatted it and put it together in your Word document, just plain text we can only help with so much.

There's a lot of things wrong with it. Fix the spacing, you don't need multiple spaces or spaces after the bullet points. Put the Personal Profile/Skills: on the bottom. Why did you only work here a month? Accounts Assistant October 2016 – November 2016. I probably wouldnt include it. Remove you Career Aims there's no context for it, no one wants to hear about the jobs your held or the places you moved, you want to focus on the skills you had or the things you've accomplished. Generally use less words. They want to know how you are going to be able to help them.

"During my time here I have learnt a huge amount in regards to retail and has given me the confidence to move forward in my career. In this job you have to be alert at all costs as one single small mistake can potentially lose your job. I enjoy this job because there is a lot of talk about sport and enjoy the different types of banter with the customers."

You want something more like this, and provide statistics of your accomplishments if you have them:
At <store name> I've provided excellent customer service (explain how). team work skills (explain how), sales experience, product knowledge.

I know he's banned, but the skills listed at the beginning are way to generic, they are the exact examples you get when you google what to put on a resume. you need specific keywords for obtaining certain jobs, being a copy pasted version of everyone else doesn't help your chances. Also, no one can type at 120 WPM that's fucking impossible don't make up shit and if you do, make it believable

I think 120 WPM is realistic? I don't use a computer that regularly for typing anymore and I get 95-105 on every speed test I take.

Also - the CV is very vague and long winded. People want short snappy bullet points that outline your specific experience. I would definitely minimise the paragraphs throughout your CV, also cut down on all the shitty bullet points at the start.

Well it's not that it's unheard of, but it's not at all common to type around or above 100 wpm. less than 0.01% of people can type at 100 wpm and of course less and less the higher you go, the fastest typer in the world could type at 150wpm for longer real sessions and around 200wpm in quick bursts like a 1 mins test, which everyone does better on. and that's in the book of world records. so i find it hard to believe when someone claims to type at 120 accurately. a real typing speed test isn't some random infinite list of words without punctuation, capitalization, or ever pressing enter. it's a 5+ minute test of actual writing where mistakes made are subtracted from your overall speed at the end
