You aren't taking a variety of things in account. Firstly, people are now more informed about the drawbacks of using chemical substances NOW then in 2001. Secondly, drugs don't have to kill you to parade the consequences. Yes they may not kill you, but the effects strike every aspect of society in every way. Legalizing drugs would inaugurate an innumerable amount of social problems.

Some points to make:

• Alcohol is not pertained to any negative side effects whilst drugs can induce psychological trauma.
• Alcohol is much easier control as far as consumption and trafficking.
• Treatment and addiction rates would rise
• Education would be adversely affected with students popping drugs like they're candy because of the fact that the teenage brain is susceptible to addiction.
  
• Accidents and deaths from impaired driving would increase.
  
• Environmental damage that would trail?

I am not going to disclose my experience with drugs but acknowledge the fact that this is coming from someone who previously peddled drugs and have seen the effects of drugs on a first hand account.

Drugs take you to hell, disguised as heaven. Drugs are a waste of time and money, take them and they destroy any ounce of self-respect you had.

The reality is drugs ruin lives, break up families and are destructive to society.
