Blackhat rule update

These rules are a blatant disregard to illegal activities. It essentially could be a gateway to blackhat for some people, as they know their Sythe accounts are safe, which could possibly lead to more users using said methods on Sythe which they won't be caught or banned.

 

My original post on this thread touched on this. While blackhat activities are 'illegal' in the classic sense, historically the scope of such activities from users on Sythe has been limited to key-logging / social engineering. I don't think the rule change is necessarily a gateway, but I do think the best case scenario is that users are unaffected by the change.

edit - memes aside this is probably the dumbest shit ive ever seen. if you let your members do w/e they want and say "oh just don't do it to US" you're gonna have a really fucking bad time. i thought i wouldn't have to explain this in a news post that clearly didn't pass anyone not autistic.

I've always been strongly against blackhat and besides DNT this is the worst update I've seen in my time here. Good god.

I think they're saying were not putting a blanket ban on black hat activities like we have done in the past. They're being more lenient with minor "offences" which is a good thing imo

 

I think more has to be done to combat blackhat, I do not believe these rule changes are going in the right direction. Just after Christmas, @Talon ddosed me and told me i would have to pay to get my connectivity back, he was already banned for ddosing. I wouldn't report it because it was quite funny, but the reality is that he still asked for money, and if I was a weaker individual I may have fallen for that kinda shit.

These dudes know what's up. This is by far one of the worst decisions I think I've seen enacted in my time here on Sythe - I'm going to be honest.

Not only do I think this is a step in the wrong direction, but the content alone is presented in a very ambiguous way, which makes it incredibly hard to discern what the new policy even is.

I mean the posts from the staff seem to be tip-toeing around what the actual rule/policy even is... ex, "well you can do blackhat on sythe, but just not to sythe members" - what the actual fuck? This is garbage. This rule update is garbage and the implementation is garbage, imho. Not a fan of the "new" feeble policy for blackhat issues.

Again, IMHO, I think Sythe really needs to contemplate on the makeup of the current staff team and readdress how they should be serving the community.

This policy update was presented in an ineffectual way, and the mere fact that some of the staff actually agrees with the content (taking it easy on blackhats) is disturbing to me.

 

Well the new rule is basically as vague as it possibly could be but what we had before was far worse. Plenty of people who didn't do anything wrong and were just techies interested in shit have been banned even though they posed no threat and harmed no one. It was complete bullshit. I'll admit there needs to be more guidance but what we had before was just crap and I'm glad something was done about it.

I believe it is a good thing to keep it this vague. If you are involved in anything blackhat you know there might be consequences, and you should deal with them if you cross limits. If you want to be on the safe side, keep clear from black hat..

 

I understand where this is coming from, but the way it was worded in the main post is causing alot of confusion.
