Tl;dr: you need to get over yourself brah

Long version:
Well that's plainly inaccurate, we exchanged PM's and I stated I couldn't afford to simply randomly pay back the GP immediately months later due to lack of job + expenses and was simply replied with a "That's fucked man. Whatever." And I believe there was another thread in the spam forum where we discussed it and it ended with me being called a snake or something along those lines.

I "quickly disappear" all the time and come-and-go on Sythe for days/weeks at a time. I've been doing it since I stopped being fully active and resigning from mod and it's hardly unusual of me.

My scumbagness centers around selling GP I found in a game and months later understanding it belonged to an individual I was familiar with on Sythe. Upon understanding and being asked to give him half the $ for what I sold it for, I said I couldn't due to well that it was a few $100 and I was broke and in school and couldn't afford it at the time. The response on his side was expectedly negative and was further exasperated in some thread in the spam forum (also aforementioned).

Also, just to clear this up:
There was no me and Farcast were bros on Sythe dynamic. Frankly we were at eachothers throats for a while over something that was likely moronic and then it died down and then he was just someone I was chill with (as I was with a lot of people on Sythe back when I was very active). There are few people on this forum I've ever actually continually talked and would say we were good friends (looking at you Apith, FFF, Celestial Bow, and some others) and Farcast was not one of them.

So to break it down:
- Guy dies on RS
- Drops his GP
- Another guy randomly picks it up
- Sells it
- Months later logs back in
- Out of sheer chance finds out it is the GP of an aquantiance on an online forum
- Cannot return the money (at least not immediately), it is a reasonable amount after all
- Is vilified for picking up GP and the individual who lost the GP because of carelessness of in game mechanics is the hopeless victim. If I didn't get it, someone else would have or it would have disappeared.

Ps. If it's any better, nearly all of my 07 accounts were banned around the same time including the one with any leftover GP.

Edit: Just to clarify, I don't feel good about it, but I don't feel the need to go make some retroactive repayment for something completely avoidable and that's just further catalyzed by the response I received.

 

Well nobody should really blame you for taking the GP. I think the craziest thing of all is you were in the exact spot he died / world / it happened to be Farcast.

Knowing Farcast he was probably just pissed at himself more than anything. But most people were fine with you keeping the GP even if you didn't disappear off Sythe for a while.

Na loans aren't dumb, but can definitely put you in a jam (trying to avoid them myself, but going to have to take out a loan for at least a semester to finish off my masters).

I don't know him all that well/don't really know what to expect, but I know I'd be annoyed at myself and frankly wouldn't expect it back. Oh cool, didn't really know the outcome of what people thought tbh, only been given shit in the sf.
