    Paying for referrals

I think paying individuals for Sythe referrals should be against the rules.

    Why?

Because if you're paying people to put you down as a referral they most likely will never use that account again.

Referrals are meant for people who actually get referred to sythe from a former sythe user and plan on being active.

    Thoughts?

More people who know about the site are more people who might recommend the site to friends or use it themselves.

So are you for or against paying users to put them down as referrals?

It's actually not. I reported a User yesterday and @Yankiee informed me it's not currently against the rules.

And that's just one case I was able to find doing a 10 second search, there's dozens more out there

That there's already been precedents set and it's against the rules?

Sigh, I guess you didn't read my previous post. Yankiee stated its not against the rules.

Fake referrals seem to be ones done by the user himself. But Paying for referrals is different.

Maybe you're correct, I'm just relaying what I was told. I was told to suggest this since it's not currently a rule.

doesn't matter, its still cheating/circumventing the rules. at the very least its TWC-able

just because yankiee stated its not against the rules doesn't mean that shes right lol. we've been temp banning users ever since the implementation of the referral system for cheating it.

You would know better than I would. Hopefully I can get some more clarity on this.

I'm against it, but I think that it's positive for the site (if VPNs aren't used ofc..)

I dont think it should be against the rules. If you pay random people in runescape 300k or whatever to come to the site and register and use your name as a referral the site will still get the traffic and who knows maybe one of them will actually stay. If this is actually against the rules than i need my reffs taken away as ive actually spammed in ge on a bot account to get referrals. took me like 2 hrs to even get what i have but whatever lol. guess i need to report my self again lol. though i didnt see anything in the rules about paying people to come to a site to sign up and put your name down as a referral. I did read self referring is bad but never did i read encouraging others to come to the site and check it out is. Its the same thing as advertising honestly. These banners at the top and bottom of the page, people pay for that right? They get the site traffic as would someone spamming (Go to sythe.org and register using my name as a refferal for 300k!!!)

If they are real unique people signing up one account each then its not against the rules

What qualifies as a Real person? You see so many people who have referrals and they have 0 posts and never login except for the day they were created.
