It's a horror movie that isn't really one of those that focuses on surprising you, like those that focus on jumpe scares. It's creepy, and interesting, and I found it pretty scary. I've never heard an entire cinema scream like that so many times during a movie. I'd definitely recommend it if you're into horror movies. It earned a 7 on IMDB and a 76% on rotten tomatoes. "Lights Out makes skillful use of sturdy genre tropes — and some terrific performances — for an unsettling, fright-filled experience that delivers superior chills without skimping on story."
I would say Lights Out, The Babadook, The Strangers, Paranormal Activity, and The Conjuring all make the list of best horror films of the 21st century. My dad's a viet nam vet and i kept imagining him as the crazy dude in this flick
Lights out was definitely good. I think the most impressive movie for me this year was Don't Breathe - I loved the concept because it stepped away from the "Ghost, Zombie, Devil" type movies. Lots of suspense and good ole fashion fear. Some other good ones I enjoyed were Ouija, Conjuring 2, The Forest.
Good turns and twists even with the lack there of, ghosts and such. I'm about to Watch "The Autopsy of Jane Doe" Starting it right now. Have you seen it?
Nope, but please do let me know how it goes. Never heard of it prior to this post. There hasn't been as much outstanding and memorable horror movies over the past few years because of how companies would like to avoid it getting Rated 18 which would limit their audiences. However with Deadpool proving otherwise, hopefully they don't mind getting rated as much. 2017 has a lot to offer with Leatherface, Friday the 13th, The Rings, Jeepers creepers and more making a return.
Just got done, I actually enjoyed it pretty well. Great suspense, good concept, even the non-scary scenes kept me entertained because of the profession the protagonist's are in. The "scare person" wasn't your typical ghost either, so that was nice. Overall, good watch - definitely worth the time. I rented it for 6 bucks on Vudu. I'd recommend.
Finished watching lights out just now. It was alright. If you're a big horror fan like myself you'd probably find it better than the new horror movies out now however I think the story of the movie lacked depth, which made it alright.
I enjoyed that movie as well, I agree with OP that it didn't focus so much on jump scares but was definitely enough to make you jump at least once if you have your volume up haha, would recommend giving it a watch if you haven't seen it.
Well, The trailer was VERY good, But when i went to watch it with my gf, We stopped after the 1st guy died ;/
