$2k Package stolen and sold by neighbors

tl;dr - My friend had a package, containing a very expensive Givenchy bag, stolen and sold by her neighbors. Need help seeing if there were any postings online related to the stolen goods. We live in Pittsburgh, PA.

Context: My friend received a very expensive bag as a birthday gift. The package never arrived. My friend's friend had a conversation with some of her friends (who are my original friend's neighbors) and they admitted to taking and selling the bag. The problem is there's no evidence that this happened. The bag was worth around $2k and I am asking if anyone can help track and see if there is any online presence of this bag. Any information found would be appreciated, thanks very much!

 

are there no CCTV cameras in the area? if there are report it to the police.

 

No cameras in the area. And the police seem unwilling to help. A report was filed but like I said, we have no evidence to provide that the bag was stolen by them.

 

Don't know if there is anything you can do if it wasn't requested that the package needs to be signed for. If that wasn't requested, whoever ordered the bag should treat this as a lesson.

 

The company your friend purchased it from should've required a signature to obtain the package. $2000 isn't a joke and for that price I feel like it's mainly the companies fault that they haven't required it. Let your friend call the company and say they never received the product.

 

Or maybe tell them the situation?

Why would you spend 2k on a bag? Terrible decision in the first place.

 

Agreed. It's the companies responsibility to make sure you received the product. Period. If you didn't, simply say you haven't received anything. Sometimes products of low value are delivered at the companies discretion without a signature, and anyone at the door to receive it. However, if they left a high valued product at the door for nobody to receive and sign. Then you have a case.

Don't tell them anything about your neighbor since this will only make them think you have planned this along. And makes a simple story - complicated.

If they refuse, talk with the management. If that still doesn't work talk with your credit card company. If not get in touch with the companies PR team, eg. Facebook, Twitter. They will run head over heels before they let any of their customers share their negative experiences on social media, or to family and friends. Guaranteed.

 

He never signed for the parcel, tell him to dispute the purchase.

 

If the company cannot provide proof of delivery they are liable.

 

all you have to do is report it to the mail service and dispute it saying you never got it, they cant say nope we delivered it fuck off, coming from experience from friends who work in ups and fedex, if ups ask @Gun more about this. If all fails fuckin charge back that money on the credit card saying you were satisfied with the purchase and never got the item through the mail from suppplier.

 

It is the companies' responsibility to make sure that it gets delivered to your door, unless you (or someone in your house) signed for it then they are liable to make sure you get the item. They should either issue a full refund or send another one (and make sure you get it this time).

No they're not lol. When you ship something, unless you pay an additional amount to verify the value of the contents for a potential claim you are entitled to absolutely squat. A signature delivery is an accessorial charge, it is not something required for all deliveries.

When you ship something you are asked what type of merchandise it is, and it is put in as a general realm of goods it is not itemized. If you say a laptop 99% of the time it will show as "electronics or miscellaneous goods". It does not say "Macbook worth $1,500".

@GuyFrank Only in an instance where you dignified upon ordering that you required a signature delivery will you be entitled to a refund. You can obviously attempt a claim but I am highly doubtful it will go through, as you are responsible to be there during the delivery window unless you specify otherwise.

 

Simply file a case with the company, the company will deal with it. i.e where it went, they will track that it went to your neighbours, they will investigate and try and find a situation out between your friends neighbours.

I live in London so majority of any expensive items will have to be signed for if it's through any sort of delivery service, or Royal mail. Whatever the companies delivering service was will have information of where the package goes.

 

Hey what does living in London have to do with it? Signed for is something the sender requests for an extra quid or two so the buyer can't claim it didn't arrive. Basically you buy expensive items missy
