Just got home from seeing it. Went in with zero expectations and left pleasantly surprised. Its well-directed, the acting is satisfactory (there were a few lackluster performances), but the main thing I enjoyed is the *mostly* unique storyline. I felt like The Force Awakens had waaaay too many similarities to the rest of the saga. Some people liked it for the nostalgia, I personally thought it was the easy route. Rogue One was a breath of fresh air. Spoiler My one issue with this film is the CGI Tarkin. It seemed completely out of place and really took me out of the story right as I was settling in
The nostalgia was what pushed it for me. Spoiler: spoilers The Darth Vader scene was probably my favourite thing about the whole movie and really shows how much of an unstoppable force Anakin was in his prime. Really reminds me of this: All I am surrounded by is fear. And dead men.... - Mr.JJJ's Secret Empire
I really liked it actually. Best SW movie since 5 & 6 IMO. And god damn does Felicity Jones have some DSLs. What I'd give to have those around my dong.
It's the first and last star wars movie I will watch, I disliked it alot, and being set before the first star wars movie(I'm pretty sure) that didn't have much impact on my thoughts. I feel asleep during the first hour of the movie, watched the rest hoping it would end. That being said it's not for everyone and I'm sure if I was into the concept it would of been appealing.
