Can we get a template for PM's for trades?

Skype I am talking to:
What I am buying/Selling:

Conversation: (Atleast 8 Lines Here)

Warning: If any of these skype contact is not the skype contact that you are talking to/Time stamps are not identical, then there is a high possibility that you are getting double imposter scammed. This is very likely because both skype's are posted publicly and a Imposter has added each of us.

Also if this type of scam occurs shouldn't the cost be split? Both members are showing negilgence and it should really be on the more experienced/trusted sythe user rather then the new sythe user to make sure he isn't talking to a imposter before he sends a PM. Both members are being defrauded both members yet only one member is paying for the damages, kinda unfair.

There should also be a rule for users to make sure that they are not talking to an imposter before sending a PM, otherwise you they could be liable for damages.

That would also stop this scam because people will actually stop being careless because they aren't risking anything and will actually do there homework before sending misleading pm's.

 

If you want a template, open up a notepad, make your template, then save it for future use. You would have to force users to use the template to stop that specific kind of scam, and I don't see it being feasible being as it is a template.

No support. In regards to the template, i agree with what @Wonderland has said above. As for your second point, it is the responsibility of every trader to confirm they are not speaking to an impostor. You mentioned yourself that most skypes are publicly posted within threads/in sigs. It's not hard to double check that the skype ID you're conversing with matches that of the person you intend to trade. If you fall victim to the scam and lose something, it is no one's fault but your own. There are dozens of warnings to this effect throughout the site

 

Well if you made it so that the person who is sending the PM is held accountable for a double imposter scam if it occured, it would kinda force people to use the template to make sure they are not held liable for the scam.

This is the main rule i want to talk about though, there should also be a rule for users to make sure that they are not talking to an imposter before sending a PM, otherwise you they could be liable for damages.

I'm not disagreeing with you that this was poorly managed by @Service Rs and I do find the whole situation very suspicious, however the person requesting the PM (the person who will be going first in the trade) has a responsibility to verify the legitimacy of the person they're speaking with. Disregarding those PMs, it would not take much effort to double check the Skype ID versus the one posted on Service's threads.

Again, not disagreeing with Service's shady behavior requiring a second look, but the report was handled correctly. @OG Black Mamba was speaking to a skype account that differs from the skype account officially associated with @Service Rs. Unless a link can be made between the impostor's skype and Service's "real" skype, this will be handled as if it was an impostor, in which case the blame falls on the victim.

Getting back to the OP, this suggestion seems to be a kneejerk reaction to this particular scam report. While implementing this policy would work out well in this situation, there are dozens of 100% obvious impostor scams just like this one occurring on Sythe every day. Requiring traders to follow this exact template in their PMs to avoid restitution would be a hassle, especially for some of the more targeted users. Most of the frequent traders on Sythe already follow a personal template similar to this one, yet these scams are still successful. Implementing this policy would most likely just cause problems for traders rather than prevent newcomers from falling for this scam.

 

did u even see the pm he sent? no skypes no nothing. i'm not saying that he's the impostor, i'm saying that he should be held responsible for sending such ass pm's.

 

I did see the PMs, which is why I think Service is shady, but that's not the point of this thread. I wish that were possible to place the blame on Service in this case, but the fact is OG Black Mamba deemed those PMs were sufficient proof he was speaking to the right person AND he did not bother to double check the Skype ID.

If you actually showed more then 3 lines where the imposter initially talks to you about buying osscape gold the scam wouldnt have worked.

 

This shouldn't be forced, but it should be something everyone is doing.. and checking because it helps a lot with no being scammed. . I tend to show the whole discussion or a lot of the discussion.

 

Prevent scams: Request proper PMs before trading!

This is also something that is mandatory for OMMs. The template is already released.

A bad PM hardly excuses the incompetence of a buyer on actually confirming the Skype they are talking to.

Anyway, a PM layout is not going to be instituted as it's overly paternalistic and you can do as @Wonderland suggested and have a template for how you PM people. @Dave () went ahead and pointed out an announcement, but there is also a thread under market tools advising you how to PM and to ensure you are talking to the right individual:

Sythe is a very heavy hands-off community and while we want you to trade safely and give tips to trade safely, it is your responsibility to actually ensure you're communicating with who you think you are. With that in mind, denied/closed.
