Do not let permanently banned members use Sythe Discord.

Using Sythe Discord is similar to using the Spam Forum, so I don't see why perm'ed members should be allowed to join the community unless they are DNT.

Agree. They have no place in the Sythe community, whether on-site or off-site, however, it's the /unofficial/ Sythe Discord. So I mean, anyone should be allowed to join the server even if they aren't a member of the website itself. It's like saying banned members can't join a Skype chat titled "Sythe.org" if they're banned on the website.

There's grey areas everywhere, but I'd still have to agree with you.

I'm a big advocate of Dnt & Banned Users and I think they should be allowed to certainly use discord.

It's very difficult for banned users to get in contact with people, with the situation on sythe currently where its heavily understaffed and pardons and disputes are taking ages to process, We shouldn't be locking up more of the ways banned users are able to communicate with people on sythe.

I don't support this, sorry. I know the logic behind it is sound but for the above reason its more important to me personally to keep the channels of communication open to banned users.

 

The problem is that it is so easy for people to come back almost instantly on a new account. Most of the staff aren't on 24/7 to make sure he is banned, and even when he is banned he comes back within a minute.

 

Yeah, but I'm sure he wouldn't return if we counted it as ban evading.

That's the burden they hold by scamming, or being banned. Maybe if they followed simple rules they wouldn't be in those positions.

@PureAddiction I support this fully... Regardless of anything, anyone who abuses the privilege of being apart of this website shouldn't be allowed to enjoy its perks, whether official or not.

 

As far as I am aware, this is currently the rule on discord; however, I am not really sure how I feel about it. I do not think there are enough banned users attepting to use Discord that require the rule in the first place and I think it shoul be handled on a case-by-case basis. I.E., if someone is toxic to the Sythe community and is trolling discord, ban them, but if they're just banned, then let them hang around (but most bans have shifted to DNT anyway so not sure how this really matters all-that-much).

The discord is practically the spam forum. Does it really matter if they are in there or not unless they are bothering everyone?

Elite dust has been evading discord bans? Have you check his IPs and matched them up? OH WAIT, discord doesn't give IPs.
Hypothetical Situation: I was to make fake discord accounts and act like I am Elite Dust to get him in trouble for 'ban evading', when it's not really him?

 

No it is definitely Elite Dust, every vading Discord account of his have the same dose of highly weaponized autism.

Support. I feel that if we would like the discord to expand while legitimizing it, we should not let banned members on there. It should essentially act as an extension of Sythe.

 

I'm going to go ahead and close/approve this since this is what we're already doing. We do ban permanently banned people on Sythe on Discord as well, with the exception of short temporary bans (such as infraction buildup bans, random 2 week bans, etc - basically if they're not a direct threat to our users (such as scammers)). We obviously can't hold anyone accountable for vading a Discord ban since, as previously stated, anyone can make an account on there and pretend to be someone else without us being able to verify said person.

Hope that clears things up, it's not a rule set in stone however staff does have guidelines for Discord. If anyone feels like this should change, they're free to make a suggestion however for now we're going to be keeping it this way.
