Scammer Prevention

I saw this on Fagex, and a lot of people did agree;
We close down registration for Sythe, and only keep like the people with 50+ posts. That way, there won't be any scammers.

What I worry about is the decrease of Sythe's population over time, with people quitting or being banned. It's just an idea though as always, because seriously - The number of scammers on Sythe is outrageous, and it really needs to stop.

OR maybe instead of completely closing registration, have refferers be a main part of it; when someone wants to register, they MUST have a referrer. A PM is then sent to the referrer to ask if he/she really did reccommend Sythe. If not, the registration is denied. If so, welcome to Sythe!

Another option is paid entry. Limited access (of course not for existing members, like the people with 50+ posts right now) until they pay the entry price.

Those are just a couple ideas to prevent scammers, because Sythe has become a real good "hideout" for them. A lot of people have paid the price because of scammers, and I really think it's time to stop it.

 

to let u no most scammers r very trusted members that go wrong this of people like mage pker (old offical mm scammed a ton)

Yes but the MAJORITY of the scammers on this site are leacher or under 50 posters hiro

 

yeah not really cause no one falls for there scams n if they do i laugh at them cause they deserve it?

 

ya but there annoying and u should earn your tyrust before even attempting to be trusted. if leachers want to be trusted then they can start small not make big scam srvices like they do or if there aproved by a high sythe member than they can be trusted more.

 

I have just joined these forums and i disagree completely.
yes you do get the occasional scammer but most of us are all just here to try and get better at runescape and make new freinds.
I Myself am looking to get more trusted here and would not like this 50+ post thing to happen

 

I agree leechers aren't really a scamming problem, probly a spamming problem more often.
Only thing I agree with your plan is the referal to register

 

1. i completely disagree with you. we would not gain anything from this besides some small useless scam attemps that can be prevented if you read the stickys.
2.closing regristion is like putting an expire date on this website because it won't grow any if no1 can enter. therefor everything would getting boring but possibly more trusted even though the poeple with 500+ post count scam the largest amounts.
3.the referal idea i disagree with because of these reasons. i wouldn't of been here and i bet half or more of the poeple that learned about this site wouldn't be here. the person that told me about this site(gangster something) might not of been even registered. i mean we get people from fegax sometimes that don't get a referal from any. those people from other sites don't get referals and mabey if the rule was set i would of and alot of other people would of got referals but it might be to much work for some lazy people such as my self lol.

 

Maybe the 50 post idea was terrible. But what about the referral idea I mentionned? That could be a possibility...

But with the referral, what if they just refer to one of their +50 post account so they can get in without any problems?

 

Man not all of use are scammer like me I got scammed 25mil in the past month
from people with 200+posts up to 700 life sucks and is there any1 that will make me a member through paypal for 3mil?

 

LOL TO BE HONEST...THERE IS NO WAY TO PREVENT SCAmINNG...unless ofcourse sythe makes an irl base wheryou apply with your request for maing an account and enter your adress and so if u scam you go to jail for like 2 weeks and do 47 hours of piking rubbish. the ownage idea...ofcrouse it fucking impossible lawl.

 

that suggestion is bad.yes it do reduces population in sythe.then who will i couple with? jk..and its very bad because the trading will be limited to us only.and current member in sythe thats not a scammer is low..? i suggest if you do trading with someone let him pm you seconds before the deal is accepted by both people
