    Vb Installtion Help.

Well i installed it alright on my laptop, but on my computer vb6 gives me the error msdn collection does not exist. This stops me from being able to save, and make projects thus making vb useless. when i go into setup and click install msdn it asks me to locate the disk.

I am using Vb6 (cracked) and also tried vb6 portable but get the same error >_<. Anyone know how to fix?

    Thanks.

You can't just download the MSDN library. Skip the installation for the MSDN library and your vb6 should install.

Not having the MSDN library should not stop you from being able to create an executable, there must be some other problem that you are unaware of.

*sigh* Is this my job or is it my job, to say that anyone interested in programming Visual Basic should skip the old language born in the 90's and move on to something newer and more worth-while?

    http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/express/aa718406.aspx

That link will take you to the newer version of Visual Basic which runs on the .Net platform. People complaining about having to download the .Net runtimes - get a grip. You once had to do so for Visual Basic 6, and Microsoft is pre-packaging the run-times in Windows XP SP2 and above. Not to mention a lot of software will install it in order for themselves to run without you realizing it.

Why are so many people stuck in the past? >_>

I'll give you an example. Look at GetDIBits in VB6, then look at LockBits in .Net. Both can be used for autoing, however LockBits is a SHITLOAD simpler. Period.

Visual Studio 2008 is going to be officially released soon, its gonna be awesome. I already have my hands on the Beta :D

    Flash? huh?

When you compile and run your program in the IDE, your program is created.

it can be found in the Visual Studio directory in My Documents.

    For example: C:\Documents and Settings\Dav0\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Projects\<projectname>\bin\debug

however, it is generally better if you set the program to compile for release upon releasing an EXE. the Release option is next to the arrow which starts your program.

    I can't stand express. I have VStudio 2005 Pro and VStudio 2008 Beta 2 Team Suite + MSDN :)
