Embrace Discord

Discord has evolved into a platform that is accessible and intuitive for users to discuss anything.

I think the Discord should shift from being the "unofficial" Discord to the official Discord, and that a significant effort should be made to get most Sythe users onto it. It should be encouraged to use Discord for trades instead of Skype to avoid imposters. It's a really good platform that could foster more of a communal feel to the site.

Links/banners should be added to the front page and stickies should be updated to encourage use of the Discord in general.

 

I personally find Discord much better to use compared to Skype. I dig this.

It's not logical to use a 3rd party platform (if you deem it safe or otherwise) to be an "official" extension of Sythe.

Why? We had an official IRC once. Discord isn't going anywhere if that's what you're worried about. No transactions are funnelled through them either so there's literally no risk. I don't see what your point is.

 

Support. Discord has a really good feel to it tbh. A lot better than Skype by far.

You have your casual members, the dick slurping crew, mildly inactive, and staff.

As for trying to replace or compete with Skype as a trading platform, well good luck with that.

 

They have their own platform, by which you're effectively forced to use to trade goods. What is being sought for here is to bring the scammers to trade on discord. Popularity is everything when it comes to using devices/software. I'm pretty sure the scammers will prefer to use skype as their targets are more likely to use skype than any other platform.

 

ok so like i just got this great idea. sythe chatbox! right? cuz like some dude doesnt think making discord official is a good idea since it's like not bound to sythe in anyway right. and like this other guy is like, nah bro discord has like plateaued and shit you know what i mean? then he also adds that like people arent gonna wanna move from skype to some other random ass chat platform you know what i mean? but then @Sythe comes along and hes like but yea like all these gold websites like RATgold.com (i was paid to put this in btw) and like bogla gold have like their own chat box and stuff and thats like not skype so like people are clearly willing to move from skype you know what im saying? then im like dude what if like sythe had its own chatbox that would be dope as hell not gonna lie you know what i mean? so like yea thats why i brought up a chatbox i think that it would be a pretty neato addition to sythe. thanks for reading lol.

I definitely agree that discord should be labelled "official"; it's much better than Skype tbh.

Skype is trash. But thats where most people will message you for trades, and I doubt that will ever change

The fact that I, as an active user, had no idea it was there until you said something lends good support to my suggestion. Some sort of bar/banner that spans the index page encouraging people to join, or a link to the official announcement thread would be sufficient I imagine: "Join the community on Discord" or something. In the thread you'd detail how Discord is encouraged for traders (not companies) to exchange goods to avoid impostors. It's far more secure than Skype due to verification, there's no denying that.

This wouldn't work unless n4n0 agreed to shut his down. There's been too much advertisement for the current one. Making another one while the old one is still up would divide the community.
