The Small Things That I Miss..

Felt like being nostalgic and sharing some of the little things that I miss from back in the day. I understand some of the things may be before some player's time but I'm sure somebody can relate to most.

• Having a gnomeball thrown at you outside of the arena and realizing you were now a part of a game.

• Not having to pay that 10 gp toll anymore and thinking you were really saving some money!

• The excitement of conquering the mightiest of them all!

• Needing a nap

• OG dueling!

• Hearing about the amazing treasure you could find deep in the wilderness.

• The struggle of dial up..

• Major game changes

• Seeing the legend in all of his greatness

I'm out of time but I might update this some over time. Nothing beats playing RuneScape when you're a complete noob.

I struggled with dial up till about 2009... Oh those were the days

Dam what a game it once used to be. Its hard to let go of Runescape even after they ruined the game with eoc. One this I miss that is difficult to show via photos is how good the community used to be back then. Everyone was chill.

 

I remember in 2005 or 2006, I got a dragon chainbody for like 25M gp. Probably the equivalent to at least a bil today I would say. Maybe not that much, but 25M back in 2005 or 2006 was incredibly hard to get. For perspective, a partyhat would probably run you 60-120M.

I was like level 80 in full dragon castle wars and it was such an op item that even maxed players could barely damage me. I could flag hold for dayyyys. Was awesome. Wish I had pictures.

 

I wish I still had my old pics too. I remember buying a purple phat for 6m...

 

I would always chill outside of Falador's East Bank / Park area in the World 2 days. On the left side outside the bank was where the Dragon Bones sellers+buyers were. I'd buy at 2k each and sell anywhere from 2.1k-2.5k each. That coupled with double nature runes got me all my wealth. Always was a lower level with a ton of wealth. Think my first partyhat cost me around 80M (Red). Then downgraded to a Green + 15m. I STILL have that Green today.

 

I'm super jealous you still have it. Unfortunately I lost mine due to some bad trades... Traded it for a Saradomin Set.. lol

 

We got a new version of dial up it's called world disconnects haha

More than anything, I miss the community that RS2 had for the first several years after its release. There were more people that actually genuinely loved the game for what it was, and fewer trolls and children.

 

Wandering around in RSC as a 6-7 year was so good, fuck...

I wish more people still played this game.

Nowadays it has kinda come to a point where are people are pretty evenly skilled be it pking/pvm or whatever.

Most people are rich & know how to make easy GP with little effort, people arent killing hill giants for big bones and that bank loooooot.

People dont kill lesser demons for that juicy rune med drop, stuff like this is what made RS great back in the day tbh.

You dont see as many noobs wondering around doing stupid shit like you did in the good'ol days.

 

I don't think they ruined the game with EOC. They ruined the game in 2007 when they took away free trade and the wilderness. Instead of listening to the fanbase they let the lawsuits take over there business.
