New HP Spectre

I'm possibly looking into buying a new laptop and was wondering if anybody had anything to say regarding this computer:

Weighs 2.45 lbs.

It's so god damn sexy. The one I'd be looking at would have the i7 processor and 8gb memory with the 13.3" display. It's also supposed to be the thinnest laptop out there right now I believe.

It is a little expensive for an HP laptop typically (this one is $1150) so I'm just wondering if anybody has it or is knowledgeable on HP's Spectre line in general and has anything to say for it and whether the price is justifiable.

What are you gonna do on the laptop?

 

Game-wise just Rs really. Would use it for notes/microsoft offices and stuff like that but I have another comp for that stuff as well. I'm thinking it'd be a nice travel laptop.

 

theres no reason to spend so much on the laptop then, rs can run on like a piece of shit $200. I think this would be overkill by like 4x, You can find something cheaper that can play rs just as well.

 

It has no ethernet port, the screen gets smudged very easily also as it is a touch screen. Finally it will get scratched unless you take real good care of it / use the sleeve all the time that it has.

It's certainly a nice laptop, but it is more of a "looks" laptop rather than convenience.

 

Are you able to pop into a store somewhere and examine the build quality? Looks a little flimsy to me (keyboard, screen hinges).

 

it's quite solid as far as i can tell from using thr display unit at the store, but i've got a feeling that the screen'll just rip off after extensive use lol.

 

HP isn't known for their high quality. I'd be reluctant and sceptical of this model.

 

This is a purchase you'd enjoy the first week or so, then you'd regret buying it realising it wasn't something you needed and you're down 1.2k

 

think about it, you're paying 1.150k for a cool design. if thats important to you, just get a mac book 2016, and install windows on it from winboot i think its called. you literally don't need a laptop that looks good, all you need is one that has good specs.

 

Their high end ultra book type things are very well made.

Agreed. Super sexy. I was looking a model of this laptop about a year ago and the specs are okay for running RS on it. For general use, it's great. Just don't expect it to take a million tasks at once.

 

They likely still make low end shit as well.
