iphone 7 and 7 plus

What's everyone's thoughts on the new iphone 7 and 7 plus?
Anyone managed to get hold of one yet?
Much better than the 6s?

 

A really great phone with no 3.5mm jack, also the earbuds work 5hours and you need to recharge these really good id rather have them instead of having wired earbuds that work the entire day.

 

Has you got the jet black one? Is it really easy to get dirty?

 

Removing the 3.5mm jack was not innovative. It's annoying. I don't doubt that they've alienated a good chunk of their devoted fanbase of sub-90 IQ consumers by doing so. The only benefit was to make the phone smaller. I'll never understand that tradeoff because you need a fat adapter plugged in to the charging port anyway so the space has just been shifted and not removed.

Absolutely silly device and I'm infinitely impressed by the stupidity of those who spend the money to buy it.

 

Are you basing your opinion on your own findings (do you have it/have you used it?) or did you make up your mind based on reviews/their website?

 

Fortunately (or probably not) for me T-Mobile has this tradeup thing where you pay $250 + your old iPhone 5(s)(c) and you get the 7. I decided what the hell and decided to trade up and get it, and I should have it within a few days.

Also @Franko common misconception, the bluetooth headphones don't come with the device, they're not even on the market till October. The new iPhone 7 users get headphones that fit into the lightning cable.

Yes, it without a doubt sucks ass that they removed the headphone jack. I personally think (this is without using the 7) that the 6s/6+ are going to be more liked and I almost wish I just got the 6s instead but with that being said I'm excited to try it.

I did NOT get the Jet Black one because everyone who's owned one (pre stock people) say they scratch like crazy because of the color which makes sense. I stuck with the regular black one and I'm excited to get it.

More nervous cause I'm hoping Tech21 releases some iPhone 7 cases on amazon so I can get some protection on it so I don't drop the expensive pile of lump and break it or something on the first day

It's common sense, in their announcement they explained that the removal of 3.5mm jack allowed them to make the phone smaller. It was literally the only reason they did it. I'm asking what your point is because I don't need to have used the phone. I'm not measuring performance or claiming benchmarks, I am explaining that the removal of the jack for the sake of a marginally thinner phone could be considered a whole new kind of retarded.

EDIT: The information in the announcement is potentially even contradictory considering what this article claims: The iPhone 7 is a huge gift to accessory makers

@Dave ahhh I din't know that yeah that makes alot more sense that they give you the wired headphones with the phone.

 

I'm currently using my iPhone 5 64GB

I was going to buy the iPhone 7 but I didn't wanna dish out $900+. Today I just bought a 4 month old iPhone SE 64GB Space Grey (Unlocked) on ebay for $350 which is cheap.

All just wait a year and buy the iPhone 8 or whatever its going to be called, I hear major changing are coming to the 10th year anniversary iPhone.

I did the same thing Dave! I use my wireless Beats to listen to music and if I am in the car, I will just keep the adaptor in there, or maybe in my wallet. I had an old beat up iPhone 5s for the past 3 years. I needed something new. I am hoping I am not let down cause I still did spend a lot of money :\

 

I may upgrade from the 6s to the 7. I'm due for an upgrade. I like to take pictures, the new camera appeals to me.

 

not bad, also i hope the 10th year anniversary phone is better than the 6 or 6s.

on topic; the 7 looks really good and clean (which i think is why a lot of people actually buy the phone). Also good to see better camera compared to the previous gens, but like all, the removal of the headphone jack was a bad idea, but innovation starts with a change i guess

If something happens, even if its your fault you can get it repaired or replaced for a $50 deductible. When something happens you can get a like new replacement, send it in for overnight repair, or take it to a local shop and they'll re-reimburse you the repair costs.

 

No the reason they removed the headphone jack was for incredibly good IP67 water resistance.
Apple apparently felt it was a necessary move. If you notice they also removed the hardware button from the iphone 7, another challenge when it comes to water resistance.

Not that I agree, I'd rather be able to use my headphones.

 

I don't like apple but this comparison is horse shit. 1440p displays are overkill in 11 inch laptops let alone small phones.
Megapixels mean nothing and too many can actually HINDER PERFORMANCE in such a small sensor.
Plenty of new phones still don't have stereo speakers.

And this of course completely neglects to mention that the iphone7 is no doubt a much faster device, all while having better battery life.

 

The Xperia Z3 had better water resistance in 2014 (1.5m deep for 30 mins - IP68 afaik) WITH a headphone jack. The 7 is waterproof up to 3.3feet (~1m) for 30 mins WITHOUT a headphone jack. If what you're saying is true then their original water resistance figures must have been total shit. Samsung has also been able to achieve IP68 with a headphone jack.
