Will OSRS soon become the "main server"?

What do you guys think? Currently the RS3 team is comprised of hundreds of employees, yet has less active players than OSRS. Do you think jagex will ever make the jump and make OSRS the main server?

Thoughts? Comments?

 

Moving backwards to the point where they can't produce new content isn't something Jagex would do. There may be more overall activity on OSRS, but there's only so much on which they can profit. I don't think they need to /officially/ say which is and is not the main server, as long as they're taking care of the OSRS server and creating more for the RS3 server. OSRS has limits, RS3 does not.

 

Both servers will most likely exist for as long as they each exist so OSRS would technically never be the "main" server unless you mean main as in more people working on osrs than rs3 or something which the osrs team has stated before that they like having a small exclusive team working on the game.

 

I mean its not bad to happen but i dont think it will

 

RS3 makes much more profit with all the micro transactions, that's the only reason the RS3 team is that big.

 

Honestly? There are more people playing than rs3, it is way more popular on youtube and twitch so it is kinda the "main" game already. It will always be more popular because of nostalgia and jagex listens to the players, they poll almost everything before they put it into the game.

 

I would prefer they dont make 07 the main server. I dont want anymore attention on what Im doing.

 

07 definitely seems more popular, when you factor in similar player count, but also much more of a presence streaming which gives the opportunity for organic growth of the game. Not to mention DMM tournaments which are bringing in unique users.

Most Rs3 players stick to it because it's the game they've been playing for years, if not over a decade. Jagex is grinding Runescape 3 into the ground with MTX. But that's also why it'll never fail to be Jagex's #1 server, simply because it rakes most of the cash.

Jagex just does not care about shoving MTX down players throats. They know the whales will always bite on the promotions, no matter how asinine or half assed the promotion is. Most MTX stuff looks like straight dog piss anyway.

I don't think they would ever do that ! They understand the love for OSRS and how it's such an important part of the game, but they need to have confidence in moving forward and back their latest version of the game.

I personally do not think Jagex will make OSRS their "main" game. They have alot of employees working on RS3 content than OSRS content, graphics, new updates etc... for the community. I personally prefer OSRS as in playing the game, gaining stats on there etc... However if you have a really high-end good PC and you love good game graphics and scenery then RS3 would be good to play since the new NXT update looks very very nice.

 

I want their employees focusing on what goes on rs3, makes it easier for us!

 

07 is not really as profitable, so in short no.

 

I think you were implying on which would be more popular, in which maybe so. Rs3 will always bring in new player, just a whole different generation of players who don't know how much the game has actually evolved.

Imo, osrs is already the main server lawl.
