Question about reports on Sythe.org

When I report a thread, I get an alert that says something like "Handled -- <REASON>"

This has been all fine and dandy, but recently when a report was resolved I was told I could PM the person that handled it if I needed any further assistance.

My issue is, I'm not sure how I can see who handled my report? Or even what I originally typed into the report, for that matter? Is there a link to get to that information from my alerts screen, or how should I go about doing that?

Unless the mod puts their name at the end of the closing statement then you can't tell who did the report.

In the past you could easily see who closed the report as reports were created as new threads essentially, but that was when the site ran on vBulletin.

 

if you go to your profile > postings > find the reported post there, can you see who dealt with it?

This, technically, makes sense but...why would Sythe prefer to do things this way? Doesn't this just make it more difficult to track things, and perhaps make staff a bit less accountable since users cannot tell who did what?

I suppose this change would stop "witch hunting (I think that's the term)" but still...

The closest thing I see to that is "My Content" and nothing that I've ever reported is found there.

The only way I can see my reports is by going to Alerts > All

It's totally cool if a staff member just forgot to put their username in their closing message; I do find it strange that the system doesn't automatically tell you who handled your ticket though. And why am I not able to see what I said in my original report? Just doesn't seem like a very smooth/efficient system, in my opinion. Perhaps I'm just unsure of how to use certain features, or that they exist?

Please get back to me on the "postings" section -- maybe I'm just not seeing it.








Edit: Just wanted to make it known I NOW KNOW HOW TO CHANGE TITLES

Very nifty update there. Not sure how long ago that was done, but users being able to change thread title is a major improvement.

you're right, I've had this issue multiple times where I send in a report and literally forget what I just wrote in that report. Apparently this reporting system is easier for staff on their end or better for them to utilize. It's not better for us. Half the time mods don't leave a note to say who took care of the report. If they did a good job or you need to ask more, you can't track down which mod responded. If you report a specific section like support section, it may be possible to know that Moes has handled the report because this is his section; or not because a global may be handling it. It's one of those things you can suggest up in the suggestions section. So they can 1) have an automatic tick where they respond; with their name. And possibly in future have a history account of what you just sent a report in. The thread feature was much better.

Could you perhaps see if there's any [easy] way to enable these basic features for users? I can kind of see not being able to find out who handled the report, but I feel as though being able to find a transcript of what I said in my report should be possible. Perhaps this is just as simple as clicking a checkbox at the admin level?

can you check your recent posts/content/anything and find it there? im pretty sure you should be able to see your own reports

 

The only relevant options I see are

"Your content" = my PMs and threads
"Conversations" = PMs only
"Alerts" = Reported posts (as detailed above, can only see the title of thread and a comment by whoever handled it. Cannot see what I said in the report or who handled it) and replies to watched threads.

The Report System doesn't work for showing or keeping history of what you report.
So unless you keep a track record yourself?

Super what did you mean this may be for only mods? As in Mods can see the reports and there's a history of it?

and yes, sonia, we can see a complete history of every time a post has been reported and who did what in response

 

That link was very informative.

Why can't there simply be a rule made that requires staff to put their username in the comments of every report they handle? A simple copy and paste would be easy and would do wonders for the satisfaction of the userbase. I don't see why this was resolved to a "low priority modification" since this could be easily resolved without modifying the technology we use. I'm not sure if mods already copy and paste "Done." most of the time, but adding their own username to that is no extra effort at all.
