I was to purchase an RSN for 15m 07 from this user and he exhibited very sketchy behaviour that leads me to believe he was attempting to scam.

Out of respect for the name sales rules I'll remove the screenshots so to not leak the name he's trying to sell so mods can check the edit history of this post to find them.

He proceeds to add my skype where we further discuss the trade for a bit, and I begin to explain how the transfer will go down when he claims he can't afford a bond.


I agree to give him a bond first in hopes this will seal the deal and I can prepare to take the name.



After I say I'll give him a bond and 12.5m, he deletes me so I assume he's not happy with the trade, sure whatever np but he messages me again a few minutes later (I guess releasing he can scam a bond from me)
Also at this point he LITERALLY CHANGED THE NAME OF HIS ACCOUNT ONCE. Add it yourself if you like to verify that


Anyone in the names business knows this is just disaster, so I'm frustrated at this point now the names hot and no longer want to follow through.

Just to reiterate no name sale occured and neither party gained/lost any money, I just feel this user is trying to scam by selling a name cheap and lying to achieve it.

Interesting. If this is in regard to the two character name, he attempted to sell it to me as well. Unfortunately he claimed it was sniped during transfer (it did move, checked after the fact) but I did provide him a bond for the transaction as after he changed his name once he claimed he didn't have enough funds for the second change. I let him slide on compensating me for the bond as I felt sorry for his loss but reading this makes me think he was definitely trying to pull something. As a fellow name trader I'm aware of the bond scam but I don't believe he scammed me as he did move the name. For anyone unaware it's very typical of newcomers to come on Sythe and claim to be selling names but not have enough money to fund the transfer of said name in which they will then ask you to provide them with the money to transfer it for the sale but they will just up and run on you.

 

Yeah I noticed this too, he did eventually change it again and yes it's in regards to that name. I know you're not able to see the chat logs but you explained it a little better for those who wouldn't understand this or be familiar with the bond scam ( it's pathetic to have to deal with it that you can't trust someone with $2 lol )
Still warrants a TWC imo due to incredibly suspicious behaviour

 

He was selling it to me for 30m 07. I'm curious as to what time he was speaking to you. If he was simultaneously speaking to us about it, it seems as if he was trying to either con one of us or both of us. Who knows though. I'm glad you weren't scammed and yes I lost a bond but I did tell him he didn't have to compensate me as I said.
Edit: We exchanged our first message at 12:25pm EST and our last at 1:51pm EST.

Well. I don't think there's much Mods can do based on what we have so I suppose this should be closed but it is your report. He definitely did exhibit some shady behavior, that's for sure though. I personally think his actions warrant a TWC/DNT/whatever as well since he lied to both of us apparently about his lack of funds to transfer the name which suggests he had ulterior motives but that's up to Mods to decide.

 

I'll give him a TWC if you have proof of those claims, all I'm seeing is text without anything to back it up.

I edited them out as it included details of the name to be sold and I didn't want to leak it on him as this would make it more awkward to sell
