Alot of members banned

Why is it that almost always whenever I visit a thread,
I see loads of Guru's and whatever with like 2k+ posts being banned.
Even people with alot of votes! Are scammers really that common here?
Or could there be some other reason?

Well, hopefully you running into such amounts of banned people will change with the introduction of DNT. Many members (whom are/were considered trusted) have ended up banned for reasons not related to scamming and more in such lines of owing people money or previous events that happened years prior and they ban evaded, and other such occurrences.

There has been a fair amount of scamming on Sythe, but a lot of it seems to be done by the same people through the re-creation of accounts and if you trade safe and use the likes of OMM's and other safe trading practices, you should never be scammed. I would not argue there is an any higher rate of scamming here at Sythe compared to other forums; really, I would argue less takes place since we have had/do have a very competent (and non corrupt) staff.

 

Lots of the accounts are just the same people ban evading over and over, some people have ban evaded on like 6+ accounts lol.

 

I'm guessing that the longer a person has been here, the more likely they are to scam.

Not to say that all long-standing members are just scammers-in-waiting, but a membership period of 10+ years vs. 1 year is a big difference.

 

Ah, I see. Didnt really think about ban evading as a reason for all thisx but noe you mentioned it does sound logical. Can I ask what this DNT is?

Scammers are a common thing, but I'd say that's expected of any popular market/forum like this one. Yes, there are a lot of scammers or banned people on posts, but my guess is that the banned user:total users ratio is exactly or very close to the same as any other RuneScape marketplace originated forum. Also, often times when a scammer rips someone off they'll try to hurry up and scam as many people as possible on the way out like the scumbags they are, so they'll be posting a lot and will soon be banned.

Make sure to read all the stickies for advice on not being scammed. While I wouldn't say there's more scammers per user here at Sythe than on other sites, I would still always recommend caution when trading. There's a variety of tools here for you to remain safe, middlemen being the main one.
