[Food] El Monterey - Big Bold Taquito Beef and Cheddar Review

I love those gas station taquitos. Don't you? Cool, because you'll love these! I don't want to take a picture of the box so here's a picture of my receipt lols. El Monterey, please combine this with "extra crispy" and the "shell shockers" line. Thanks.

Price Paid: $4.37 after coupon. I thought it was too expensive but then I realized it'd be $8 if I bought them at a gas station.




There's not much to say other than this 1.3 LB box has 8 HUGE taquitos in it. The pictures on the box are smaller than the actual taquitos. I'll update with pics if I cba. They also are completely filled up, unlike other products by this same company, including the Tornados.

Legit, these things not only have good length, but they're girthy as heck. They're filled with some steaming hot meat and cheese. It is unfortunate that these don't get hard / crispy in the microwave like their "extra crispy" line of products (I have tried a ton of this company's products >.>).

Even though the taquito was a bit flaccid and couldn't get hard through the microwave, I'm sure if you stuck it in a warm oven for 40 minutes (yes, 40 minutes) it'd be crispy. I can't seem to turn on ovens anymore, though. Working my way through the soft shaft was still satisfying as I consumed every inch of the taquito. Delicious.

This is only a review for the microwaved version. Oven will be much better.

High 5/5 stays very true to the gas station taquitos.

I'd buy it again, heck yes. I hope they come up with a version similar to [Food] El Monterey - Shell Shockers Fiery Hot + Jalapeno Ranch

Fryer? Toaster? Oven? Microwave?

 

GODDAMNIT MAN, MICROWAVE.

If I put them in the oven or fryer these things would be a godsend. I'm holding it to the standards of quick and easy frozen food, not 40 minute food.

Not always. Their "Extra Crispy" line of products is actually crispy.

Doesn't look like it is as filled, but maybe it just spreads out in the microwave.

 

Do a taste test review on the 7/11 goodies.

they have like premade pizza, tacos ,etc

 

I actually kind of like the 711 pizza. it's like $6 here or something and made quick, didnt give me the runs, couldnt complain

 

The little taco things are better than the frozen ones. They have a hint of lime. I hear the spicy ones are even better.

I've been delaying the pizza for years lolol. I want to do it within the next 2 months (I have pizza plans arranged already - one of them being today).

$5.55, yeah. I never see anyone getting it... I saw the oven being used once and I wasn't sure what the special occasion was.

And trust me, I've been to 7/11 a lot.

 

Those should still be out, right?

My plan was to wait for them to come to the freezer aisle (Velveeta / Doritos have theirs in the freezer aisle) or for a spicy Cheetos version.
