Disbanding or Restructuring of the Public Relations Team

A simplistic question answers the reasoning behind this; what have they done and/or accomplished since their creation? All I have seen is a funrank applied to two individuals and a whole lot of talking about "oh yeah we are working on things, eventually to be released"

We as a community are waiting on actual results. One big thing being a staff member as the leader is a dreadful thing, as it has been shown on other teams. If seems to me like this "community team" is just a group of pals accomplishing squat. Anyone else?

I'm not simply saying to get rid of it all together, but either get them up to speed ASAP or restructure it. It's absolutely horrid at this time. This is not a thread of feedback, it is a tally of items that suggest the two terms listed in title.​

Here's our responsibilities for the PR team

Leader responsibilities
To oversee all operations of the Sythe PR team. Which includes but is not limited to

• Take new applicants, and oversee the application process
• Post all updates and content onto our various social media page(s)
• Act as liaison between the PR and CDT team to make sure events are properly communicated and promoted on social media if necessary
• Last resort in decision making if there are issues that require their attention

Team member responsibilities

• To create content that will be posted on our various social media page(s) included but not limited to articles, promotional work, graphics work
• To increase activity in the site through our work
• To serve as "the face" of Sythe, be helpful around the forums and helping direct new members around the website
• Refer people outside of Sythe to Sythe and leaving positive reviews on various websites

in addition to this, we are currently running our gleam giveaway event and have one event ready for release as soon as our gleam event is over, This will bring back the use of our facebook promoter minirank, and people will have the opportunity to get a twitter minirank.

Additionally we have been working on some PR based stuff, such as review roundups, and using others social media sites to bring activity to our website


I'm very aware your not fond of the current PR team, but If you like, we would love meaningful suggestions/feedback in this thread: Sythe PR Team - feedback & suggestions

Users like Ritosayo and Shall Skill have already given us great suggestions, and we have already started implementing some of it, with the rest to come in time.

I don't see anything you wrote here directly being in accordance with your responsibilities. The only thing you have done is create a giveaway and make duplicate posts on Twitter/Facebook which from feedback on discord are just cringe and only appease to member retention, not actual recruitment.

 

So basically they just host giveaways and post on Twitter and Facebook? I'm sorry, but do they even have 100 followers? Sorry I'm to lazy to check. I've read what Tyler said his duties are, but I'm still wondering what they actually do that's important?
LIke @Yousuckv2, @Punjabi3 & @SuF do more around this site, they help and annoy the shit out of me but at least theyre actually doing something. Throw in a giveaway or two and you actually have a team that actually works.

 

Essentially they have done nothing in anything except an attempt at retaining current members. A poor effort at best.

 

I agree something definitely needs to change. Anyone that's currently apart of the PR team unless you can back up your claims, and provide evidence that what you do actually matters, you shouldn't post.

 

Groups like Technical Core and Public Relations are unnecessary. These are spin-off subset groups that are a branch of CDT. Everything these two groups do fall under community development.

Just inivite everyone who are a part of these two groups to the CDT and assess duties from there.

 

To name a few of the things we have done/have been doing/are working on

• Review roundups
• SEO friendly game update discussion threads examples: [Update] Pokémon GO Update - Appraisal System 08/23/2016 Pokémon Go - Tracker Update - 08-08-2016
• Discussing new sections with Richard, implementing threads whenever we suspect a large scale game to come out (No man's sky was an example of this; but the game flopped)
• Posting threads in social media places like reddit, with the intention of getting new users to our website
• We took suggestions from a global moderator, and one of our members is writing up various runescape guides which should help drive traffic
• We took suggestions from Shall Skill regarding a great way to get pokemon go players from facebook platforms onto our website, I suspect that to be implemented soon/worked on soon
• One of our members, has reached out to another website, without getting into too much detail we are looking for opportunities to expand our user base while working with another website
• We're currently accepting applications for a youtube content creator, and literally already have work laid out for them as soon as they start

None of what I've just typed includes

• Our events we are currently running or have been planned
• Our social media platforms that only the leaders have access to and we use constantly throughout the day
• Our members maintaining a good relationship with new users around the site, constantly posting in introductions/sythe.org support ect.
• Receiving good feedback from users like ritosayo through our feedback thread and implementing that information.

Edit: This is just some of the stuff we have been working on, obviously I cant go too much into detail regarding what's done in our private forums/events that are not out yet.

Closing this thread. The PR Team is part of the development center (and so is the CDT and TC). We're one big group actively working on bettering the community.
