Is there any legitimate way to become a P-mod?

99-100% of player moderations on RS nowdays are popular youtubers, people who attended runefest or J-mod suck-ups. Jagex claim that "players who help out the community are chosen" but it sounds like rubbish to me. You'd have a better chance of getting p-mod by hanging out in J-mod FC's then actually going around helping people.

 

It's definitely given to those more known amongst the community. I've had a few cracks at pmod on a few accounts. The way I got it last was through normal activity (respectful conversation only) and a recommendation from 2 pmod friends that I had known from the last for an extended period of time. I don't know how applicable that is to you but just my experience.

 

That's an interesting point, having p-mod friends would be a decent way to be noticed by J-mods. There are ~6 active p-mods on W42, all of which were given the crown from hanging out in Mod Shauny's fc

 

Yeah so becoming friends with them as well as hanging out in Mod Shauny's friendschat is the best way for you in my opinion especially if you frequent/are fairly well known in w42.

 

"Females" are extremely over represented in the moderator community. This is partly because actual females are less aggressive, but it's mostly because you will get far more commendations from Pmods and Jmods.

 

Honestly i'd bet that's pretty equal between females and males, but males make up for like 97% of the runescape playerbase is what I think it was in the last survey.

 

Yep I've definitely seen more "female" p-mods than males. There's a p-mod on my home world that uses excessive profanity and speaks in very broken English, how she was given the crown is an enigma to me.

Pretty much go to runefest, suck mod mark off or suck the Gower brothers off

 

I am like pretty sure that P-Mod is a offered job, I don't think you can apply for it, you just get famous or do something for the community that is looked as good, and they contact you.

It's usually only really old accounts that have literally played since 2003 to present day get P-Mod. The chances these days for accounts being offered the status is very slim since Jagex really only wants people that impact the community being in-game moderators.

As someone who has been to world 42 and talk to people who used to play that world... I'd think your chances are in the negatives

That said, yeah the meritocracy went out the window a long time ago for everything at Jagex. Start talking to a Jmod if that's what you really want - but I don't think it is what you really want. When a Jmod can ban me for no reason, and no one cares enough to unban me... that's a problem.

 

But why does being a pmod matter anyway? E-status is useless, especially in a game called runescape.

 

A lot of people are not aware of pmod status and how it works, it is more of a picking from real staff then it is a worked application, you cant really apply for it.
