Tell the CDT What To Do

I really think the leaking rule shouldn't apply to the CDT. There isn't exactly sensitive info in there. The only thing that shouldn't be shared is the actual votes on applications and events before and during them being run. Other than that, nothing in there is really "classified" for a lack of a better word

 

If we decide to make discussion public/available to the public then yeah that's fine. Voting would obviously remain classified. I agree with releasing event discussions and the such to the public. It would be even better if we first discussed things with the public, then with ourselves as a team.

 

The team should come up with measurable ways to judge their performance as a whole. The goal of the group seems very loosely defined and having a way to look back in six months or a year and judge how well you in a fair and quantitative way would do wonders.

I definitely agree to this as well. Accountability should be present in any team like the CDT.

 

I don't want someone who decides they can do whatever they want whenever they want just because they're wearing a rank without consulting their team first.

 

On note of that, what does the community think of a committee, of people chosen by the community say 10-15/20 people who either have been previous applications and want input and want to help in what the CDT is doing, who can directly give opinions and views on things, these people have direct concerns. This way these 10-20 individuals can talk to their friends, word can get about, and the collective idea regarding CDT aspects can be open, transparent, and directly applicable by the communities views. no funranks, miniranks or anything like that, just people with real views, real input, want real change.

What is everyone thinking about that? Or we just have what we're planning, what ideas we have, what we want you to benefit from, etc (unless sensitive event organising), just for the whole community to decide what could be good?

 

Throw out a thread for it then.

For example, Halloween is our next big holiday. Make a thread, and ask the community to volunteer ideas of what they'd like to see with a Halloween event.

Then ask the community to like a post if they like the users idea. Whichever post gets the most likes is obviously what the majority of the community would like to see.

Then if there are ways you can implement other people's suggestions into the event, you can do so. Add a spin to it.

The idea of getting community involved would be to have an addition of views and opinions directly effecting decisions the CDT makes.

The CDT's job is to work with the community and get their opinions and their views. Making some non-CDT people do it for you is silly.

Hard agree with you two. Things I'm doing to move us in that direction

This last event (first one since I've been on the team) has been overseen by myself and sonia is managing it. We're doing a good job of compiling a lot of statistics. IE: Who entered, their join dates and their posts. I will then be determining if the user is classified as a "market user" or a "community user." Our goal with these events are to bring market users to the community, to grow the community through already existing members. @SuF your research has led me to believe the market is still maintain while the community is dropping, which then leads me to believe that if we tap into those market only users, we will begin to grow our community from within. We will be taking note of how many users have entered, how many of them are returning community members, which ones of them are brand new to the community, and which ones are primarily market users being brought into the community. I will report all these numbers at the conclusion of the event ad will also make public the CDT lounge thread regarding all decisions in this event. We also did this to stay in-sync with each other and Sonia's decisions regarding the event. There was no voting to bog down the process. We decided to make Sonia the project manager, and from then on her word was law on the event. More will be made clear on this when the thread is publicized, after the event.

Furthermore, I've tried to contact the PR team numerous times to help them advertise the event to outside communities involving sports, the olympics, sports betting, and things of that nature. @Sephiroth helped me out there by posting to a few forums encouraging their community there to give this risk-free shot at making money in a fun little Olympic event. On top of that, @Sonia posted a thread in the sports section that fulfills the Olympic needs in that section. This is our first time trying to do anything like this in regards to bringing other community members to our substantially different community and it will only continue to get better.

If I can finish my database more completely (means writing more code and downloading 13 million more posts) I'll be able to give you guys a better sense of how community involved the users are.

I currently just have the posts and threads that's users post. I can tell you when and where a user posts threads or what threads they post on but I can't tell you what they posted yet. I'm currently limited to some sections and I have no good way of updating anything yet so I can give you slightly dated information or I can completely redownload everything which I'm trying to avoid.

 

Oh I do relate threads to sections so I can tell you what sections they post in most.

 

Cool, this helps. When I'm determining community user VS market user I'm definitely going to need to work with you. I'll be in Chicago for the Sythe meet up until Sunday, but that'll be okay because we won't have all the users involved then. Perhaps @Sonia can put together a list of Sythe usernames to make our jobs a little easier
